Best vegan restaurant in Schenectady! I am not a practicing vegan (yet) but anything environmentally friendly that supports ethical farming and sustainability is for me. This place went a long way in convincing me to covert. It's easy to miss this small spot as it is nestled right next to Johnny's and if you're walking up State Street you might miss it. Once you walk inside and are greeted by the employees you enter a cozy dining area and front counter that is surrounded by lots of plants and beautiful art as well as some chill music. It's all great ambience. I ordered the breakfast burrito and the Oreo donut with a regular drip coffee. It was all reasonably priced for the portions. The breakfast burrito came with a side of house made Pico de Gallo and was absolutely amazing all around one of my favorite breakfast burritos ever. The Oreo donut basically melted in my mouth it was so soft and sweet. It would satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Coffee was delicious but I don't know anything about where it came from. They had a small table and fridge where you could add your preferred sweetener or "cream." I chose the oat milk because that's what I use at home. It was a brand I hadn't used but I liked it. While I waited in the dining area for my food I over heard the owner talking to some patrons they knew. First impressions from overhearing their conversation is that the owner seems to have a real zest for life and passion for making people happy and having a positive attitude. It made my short experience there that much more wholesome. I will definitely...
Read moreWhat a superb place to have a meal! My wife and I are both vegan, and we love finding plant-based cafes to enjoy some tasty food. Take Two Cafe was awesome.
Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a small place, and all the tables were taken. No biggie, the person who warmly greeted us and took our order assured us that a table was opening up soon.
We ordered tea and coffee (both tasty), and had some food. Bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, Mac Wrap, and a Curry Chicpea wrap. Waited a few minutes, and sure enough, a table opened up. Sat a few more minutes sipping coffee, and our food was delivered to our table.
Remember: all vegan. The bacon egg and cheese bagel was scrumptious. The Mac Wrap was perfect; BBQ seitan, Mac and cheese, slaw, and tastiness was all wrapped up together. Served with chips and a pickle. Soooo good.
My wife had the curry chickpea wrap and said it was amazing. It was served with a side of potato salad. She loved it.
We sat and chatted over our meal, and the server checked in on us once. Perfect.
After our lunch, we picked up some desserts to bring home. It. Was. All. Amazing.
All told, lunch was $50.00 for three plates and two hot bevvies. Add another $17 for the desserts at the end. We left super happy, satisfied, and talking about how we can’t wait to come back.
EVEN IF YOU ARE AN OMNIVORE, you owe it to yourself to come and try this cafe. It’s awesome with a super chill vibe and...
Read moreStaff person would not allow us to use their restroom after we had already ordered food, despite this being an eat-in restaurant, and there is no public bathroom anywhere nearby. Restaurants adjacent were closed. Staff said that the arcade across the street does not allow people to use the bathroom and directed him to walk to the train station three blocks away. He walked there while I waited and our food came. But the Amtrak staff told him he couldn’t use the bathroom there without buying a ticket. He called me from there and I pleaded with the Take Two staff person to let him use the bathroom. She acknowledged that they have a restroom but declined to allow him to use it. She suggested the library, which was a 7 minute walk in the other direction. He started off but couldn’t make it, and ended up stopping at the Burger King, where they graciously allowed him to use their restroom. He came back 20 minutes after our food was served, at which point the food was cold and we were subsequently late for our appointment.
What about people with disabilities, or those with medical issues?
If you know there is no restroom anywhere nearby, just let people use your bathroom. Or you can partner with another facility in the same building to...
