My husband and I were taking a day trip today and we Google'd restaurants near us for lunch. Gerber's was on the list so we decided to give it a try. This turned out to be a great find. The atmosphere and the history of this old Speakeasy was great. It's not a large restaurant but the lunch menu and the bar had nice selections. The bartender/server was very friendly and outgoing. With a vodka/cranberry and a Guayabera Citra Pale Ale in hand, we shared a meatball app which was quite good. My husband had a beef au jus sandwich with mac salad. He said it was also VERY good and it had a ton of meat and NY cheddar cheese, served on a very fresh bun. I had a 1/2 lb Angus burger and potato salad. The burger was cooked perfectly, it was very juicy and again, the bun amazing. The burger could have been seasoned a bit more but generally it was a solid burger. Both salads were very good and obviously homemade/fresh (it just seemed a bit early in the season for me to be eating these salads).
I would have loved to have seen more historical pics and info on display but they did have some. Otherwise they had what appeared to be a display of a local artists work, which was available for purchase.
If we're in the area again, this is definitely a place we would return to. We're giving 4 stars out of 5 only because the burger could have been seasoned a bit more. If 4.5 were available, that would have been a better rating.
Here's to hoping the area around this establishment grows along with what the individuals are doing at Gerber's...

Both the decor and food/drink menu send you back to a simpler time and effortlessly display the proud history of the surrounding area as times went by.
Taking a bit of old and mixing it with a bit of new, Mark Mojave has restored a historic landmark in this area while taking a careful hands on approach to its success.
This is the place to get a well made French 75, Old Fashioned and a well crafted Manhattan. Sit back and enjoy numerous craft beers on tap and well craft old school cocktails. Given that this is the ONLY craft cocktail bar in the area, I highly recommend you come try it for yourself.
Others might try to copy, but no one will be able to replicate the authenticity and atmosphere that is...
Read moreWe went to Gerbers for lunch today March 20 2018 and I ate a Reuben sandwich with macaroon salad. My son had a burger, they don't have french fries and they did not have potato chips that comes with the burger. My Reuben was ok but did not have that wow factor. The burger was $15. and that was not anything special. I spent $29.15 for lunch that included 1 soda I left a $4.00 tip. It wasn't 20% but it wasn't the waiters fault, it's the owner's fault. He needs to adjust his prices this was way too much for what we ate. I would not ever go back there and spend that kind of money. Very little menu. I know your trying to stay with old time flare but you should also get with 2018. Not a good place to eat. If you want diarrhea go ahead and eat there. I had very bad diarrhea after eating there. They must not use proper...
