Dined with my family there on a Sunday afternoon and it we were thoroughly unimpressed.
The food, was okay. Not nearly worth the price we paid. Which was extremely disappointing. I ordered the chicken and it did not have any flavor whatsoever. My husbandâs pernil sandwich was dry and lacked flavor as well. To be honest the only thing that was decent were the empanadas. I ordered the rice with peas and corn to go along with my chicken and there was not one piece of corn or peas in my bowl. To top it off the rice was dry and there were some grains that were hard, old rice/reheated rice?
Service. I ask the restaurant that they please, please, please teach their servers to ask if there are any allergies that the kitchen should know about. My mother ordered the Ceviche. The menu did not state that the ceviche was a mix of shrimp and octopus. My mother is allergic to octopus and almost ate from the dish until she realized there were pieces of octopus in there. When it was brought up to the manager he quickly took the food back to brought us a different dish. Thank you to him. But did he ever come back to touch the table to ensure the new dish that came out was okay? No, he did not. I work for a restaurant group and guest experience is our number one priority, if anything like this were to happen at the restaurant the meal would be compâd immediately and the manager on duty would touch the table to ensure the guest experience was not tainted from that hiccup.
More on service. It feels as though their staff may need more training? There doesnât seem to be much communication with your servers and back waiters. A back waiter took my cup of seltzer and never came back with it, I wasnât even asked if I wanted another, to be honest, I donât think the server even noticed because she never checked on our drinks for any refills. $4 for a cup of seltzer that had more ice than seltzer is extremely disappointing, then for it to be taken and never brought back leaving me extremely thirsty after my meal? Unreal.
Ambiance. Upon walking in, the place had loud Spanish music but it was not inviting nor did it feel lively. It was pretty dead actually and it was a bit awkward walking in at first. We were only really acknowledged by the host.
Training. A polite Manager on duty with a blue shirt and white pants touched the table to see if everything was okay. The approach was a little awkward. While I appreciate her presence I think more training has to happen to ensure she was confident enough to touch the table. Then we had to ask her for our server to take our order, she ended up taking the order, then the server came in to take our order that was also very awkward.
The final bill was $139, neither the food or the experience we had was near that bill total. Sad to say we will not be dining there again and will be telling our friends/family of...
Read moreCasa Fuego is a place to enjoy some tasty food, if you donât mind subpar service. I have been there a few times. My first two times were great, but probably because they werenât busy the restaurant was about half full both times.
Now my last visit was this past Sunday May 18th went in for brunch. We came into the hostess area and waited about five minutes to be greeted. Finally hostess greeted us, and sat us right away. I noticed the place was almost full capacity. They sat us in a round booth, and I agree with another reviewer who mentioned these round booths are quite unusual. Comfortable to sit in but somehow the tables are too small to accommodate the space, making it very hard to reach the table. So we had to sit forward, leaving about a foot and half space off the backrest, very uncomfortable to sit like that for an hour. Waitress approached us about five minutes later to place a drink order. We ordered our drinks, and placed an appetizer for the table. About seven minutes later all of the drinks came out except mines. I asked the person who delivered the drinks about my drink and she went and told me that our waitress was bringing it right over. Finally I received my drink (coffee) fifteen minutes later, honestly was barely warm and tasted terrible. At that point the waitress disappeared again, and we didnât see her until ten minutes after we had finished eating our main entrees. Finally I got the managers attention, I expressed my frustration with my drink and how long I had been waiting for it. The manager told me that he would personally make it himself and bring it over. We ate all of our food, finally the waitress showed back up, at that point we didnât even care to order dessert. We just wanted to pay our check. We received our check and to my surprise, not really my coffee never arrived. I made sure to see if we were charged for it, but they knew better and didnât show up in our bill.
We were very disappointed with the service! Service is beyond subpar. We can tell they were overwhelmed and short staff. So I am being mindful of that, at the same time we are paying customers and deserve better services. If you canât handle the volume, stop taking tables until you get service under control. However some business become greedy to get as many people sat and served while jeopardizing service quality. Now I must give credit when credit is due. Hats off to the Chef, and the cooks food is very tasty. I havenât had one dish there, that was disappointing...
Read moreMe and a group of friends decided to try this place out with our kids after watching a movie in the same shopping center. I was excited to have a new Latin place to possibly dine from in the area.
We went in and the place had a nice atmosphere, it looked promising. The music was a mix of Latin classics that I enjoyed. The drinks were the highlight of our dining experience.
The food was incredibly disappointing considering the prices. One of my friends ordered a Cuban sandwich, that according to her, had burnt bread with dry and flavorless pork. My other friend had her order of pernil rejected due to them not having any (this should be a big no no for a Latin restaurant). Our waitress led her to order a breaded steak sandwich that was fatty, greasy and also served on burnt bread. I ordered a ceviche that was ok, not something I would reorder. I ate half and decided it wasn't worth taking there rest home. My girlfriend order a shrimp Mofongo that was place in a red tomato based sauce. We typically have it in a garlic based broth that compliments it well. She described it as plantains dipped in Campbell's tomato soup.
The waitress was sweet and friendly, but not knowledge on the food that was being served. Besides leading my friend astray on ordering a sandwich that wasn't good, she told me that the ceviche was a little spicy but not heavily spicy when asked. The ceviche was more clamato and dull than spicy or tasty. We also asked her if the quesadillas were made with mozzarella for my daughter who prefers her it that way. We were told yes. They brought her out a chicken quesadilla, when she only eats cheese quesadillas. Then replaced it with a quesadilla mixed with cheddar and Monterey cheese.
Needless to this is going to be a one and done for us. Yonkers is a fairly good sized city with a large and diverse Hispanic community. They are really missing the mark on serving and representing our community better. The are however much better restaurants with Latin flavors to choose from...
