I dined in at Public Pizza on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024. I ordered the Shrimp Parm and a Raspberry Iced Tea. When the iced tea was brought to the table, I noticed dried-up food stuck to the cup's rim. I brought this to the server's attention. She took the cup to the back and returned with what I thought was a drink, but the same drink was poured into a different cup. I realized this when I saw the dried food particles floating at the bottom, clearly from the original cup. Rather than causing a scene, I told the server I would like to take my food to go and left the drink on the table. The hostess noticed I hadn't touched the drink, commented on it, and kindly removed it from the bill before I packed up my food and left. On my way to work the following day, I realized I couldn't find my AirPods. I checked the location on my phone and saw they were pinging at Public Pizza. Since I work nearby, I stopped by at 7 a.m., but the restaurant was closed. They opened at noon, so I called every hour without hearing back. At 11:45 a.m., someone finally picked up. I asked to speak to a manager, and a woman who identified herself as the shift supervisor, Graziella, answered. I began explaining that I left my AirPods at the restaurant the previous day, but she rudely cut me off before I could finish my sentence, saying no one had found any AirPods. I tried to explain that my AirPods were still pinging at the location, but she repeatedly interrupted me, making it impossible to get a word in. She mentioned that she was the only one there, along with one line cook. I attempted to explain how Apple products work, but she chuckled and said, "Well, I have an Android." It was useless trying to talk to her. While on the phone with Graziella, I watched my AirPods leave Public Pizza and travel all over Yonkers. When I told her this, she finally mentioned that another employee had left for Cross County. I told her all the places where my AirPods had pinged, and she finally stopped talking long enough to take my phone number. She said she would call someone to ask if the employee had the AirPods. Unsurprisingly, the location of my AirPods showed up at Cross County. She called me back, saying that the manager had spoken to the employee and asked them four times if they had the AirPods, but they denied it. I pointed out the irony: the employee was on their way to Cross County, and my AirPods also showed up there. At that point, she became defensive, cutting me off, condescending, and rude. I told her I would be leaving a review about their dishonesty and lack of customer service, to which she responded that she would inform the owner and flag my review as a lie. I told her I would report the issue to the police and hung up. Within minutes, she called me back, offering that the owner would buy me a new pair of AirPods to remedy the situation. I told her no; I wanted my AirPods engraved with my name. When I asked who translated for the employee, she refused to give me the name and got loud with me. I told her she was rude and not to speak to me like that, and suddenly, she began to cry, claiming I was making her uncomfortable and triggering her anxiety—a typical "Karen" tactic. I hung up and headed to the location. Then, all of a sudden, I received a call saying an employee had "turned in" my AirPods, with Graziella saying how sorry and embarrassed she was, though she claimed she didn't know which employee had them. I already had a sense of what was going on and didn't want to put myself in a situation where she could twist the truth about me as a woman of color with her previous "Karen" tactic. I called the Yonkers Police and sat outside of the location for them to show up. Once the police showed up, I told them the situation; they went into Public Pizza and retrieved my AirPods. Before I even noticed that I had left my Earpods there, I threw out the food because it was nasty and did not taste good.
Family friendly. Good food and drinks. Bar area, outdoor and indoor seating. Staff were very friendly. Waitress was excellent.Public Pizza Italian Restaurant & Bar Menu

Read moreThis could've easily been a 1 Star Review, but NEVER be too quick to finalize your Review of a Place. This Review ended with 4 Stars. So Here are both The NEGATIVES and The POSITIVES. Let's begin with (1) The NEGATIVES: [a] Inside Dining on a Friday night after 8pm WAS LOUD!! Several Customers (at least 4 different tables) inside on this particular night were waaaaay too Loud. Their lack of consideration for others dining around them caused everyone else to have to speak louder just to hear whomever you were dining with. I wondered why the Owners allowed that? [b] Our (Me, my Wife, and Our 2 Teens) food took long to get to Us, and arrived separately, after about 30 minutes. First my wife's food, then 15 minutes later the kids food, then 20 minutes later, I still hadn't received my order.(had to cancel it) Ended up eating off of the kids selection. (2) The POSITIVES: [a] The Location of this Restaurant is conveniently located in Ridge Hill Mall. [b] Outside dining is available, with plenty of tables, and oddly ... very Pleasant, as there weren't any loud guest sitting outside. [c] While the food took long to be served, everything was Fresh, Tasted Great, and well portioned.(View Photos) [d] The Staff was very Professional & Welcoming. When I canceled my order, because it took too long to be served, one of the Managers (Fermin) came over and apologized for the delay. He comped the meal, and again, was very genuine about his apology. [e] Although Our Server (Gio) appeared to be busy with other Customers, he continued to check up on how things were for us, and also apologized for the mishap with my meal. All in All, this ended better than it was going. My family and I will definitely come back to give it another try, but perhaps earlier in the Afternoon/ Evening, to avoid Loud Customers. If You in the Area, give them a try...
