Some coworkers and I wanted taco Tuesday and happy hour. We ended up here at Rancho grande the place I had been once before with some coworkers the week before. Arrived 30mins before happy hour was finished. They sat us down with menus. We asked is happy hour served here? We were told only at and around the bar so we choice closer to the bar. They of cause changed the server the new server (Antonio) his body language was in welcoming not friendly and seemed bothered that now he had to assist us. There was really nobody at the restaurant. He (Antonio) comes to get our drink order, we give it right away (remember happy hour not much time left) and we ordered a large guacamole. He brings the drinks, we asked if he can put in another order for us. He says no you have to finish your drink first. We look at each other and him with a look of since when but any way, I asked why is that and he mumbled something and didnt repeat himself walks away then begins to chat with another worker. Now the guy who is making the guacamole in front of us doesnt ask how we want it our food gets to us before the guacamole is done and it's the size of my palm (which are small) so I said I ordered a large guacamole. He said I put 2 avocados once again I'm surprised with the responses.he doesnt even ask for us to taste to see if it's good we call him back we asked for spicy he said I assumed you didn't want too spicy. What that's what we asked for. Ant way the server comes back asked is everything ok. I said No and explained he says its 1 avocado per serving what $15 for 1 avocado no way then he proceeds to say i told him to use 2 avocados. I said I was here last week asked for the same thing and got much more what changed? He did not know how to answer walks away again and start speaking to the other worker the other workers now looking at us. First of all that's so unprofessional he should have had a better answer. We finished our drink way before happy hour was done he waited till happy hour was over to come to the table and ask if we wanted another drink unacceptable. Plus the air conditioner was broken that day and here in New York it was very hot and humid so just imagine. Better service better servers explain when people order the guacamole what they should be expecting explain the happy hour this is the only location where I had to wait to finish my first drink before I could order a second one I was just placing an order I wasn't asking for him to bring it to me right away thumbs down if I could give it a zero I would they lost customers because none of my co-workers or I...
Read moreBig disappointment!!! I haven't been here in a few years and to be honest. They need to give their staff customer service lessons... from the Hostess to the waiters. Hostess seemed moody because we asked her to sit other than where she wanted us to sit. (You're customers should be able to feel comfortable) We asked for regular nachos and then the staff member brought the bowl to us and slammed it down on the table with an attitude. The margaritas tasted like it had too much triple sec in it... we couldn't ask for the margaritas a certain type of way with less triple sec as the waiter told us the pitchers were made on Friday and we were already on a Saturday evening. (Scary....) We had to remind the waiter for our drinks. Strange since they dont have to be prepared fresh being they are already in pitchers as the waiter stated. Why such a long wait? We ordered guacamole and they server made that pretty good. The steak tacos were a tad bit dry with minimal tomatoes in it. My husband's steak burrito didn't have much meat it. It was basically all rice and beans. Waiter didnt provide napkins until we asked for them, and they were unattentive. I will NOT be going back. Management please RETRAIN your staff as you're going to lose customers.... I know I use to like coming here because the staff was great, and friendly years ago... I know for a fact we won't be back again. Management please remember that a restaurant critic can come into your establishment any day or time and your staff represents...
Read moreOur orders were taken fairly quick, we were placed in the back seating towards the bathroom and kitchen. Didnt mind. My waiter even made my friend and I a mixed drink (non alcoholic) to suit our tastebuds for the evening. The food was PHENOMENAL, where they fell short was general customer service. Throughout an hour stay I saw my waiter once, he didn't bring me my food, he didnt give me napkins, no did he give us our second round of drinks. I had to ask 2 different waiters whom were very rude in body language for the second round of drink and 1 other for more napkins. Mid way through my meal, without any indication, another waiter then asked "Are you finished with that?" while reaching for my plate. Five minutes later and a few bites later I am approached again asking the same question! So a few more minutes pass by and I ask for the check HERE GOES MY ORIGINAL waiter. My colleague and I questioned as to what tip to give him considering he did nothing. So before the check arrived at the table I was ASKED THAT GOD AWEFUL QUESTION AGAIN! Almost immediately after the check was brought to the table not even 5 minutes later, while I'm signing into my bank app the waiter then takes off with my plate with my last few bites left on it!!! Are you kidding me?! I was willing to give my waiter a 20$ tip, instead he got a 3$ tip. I am a restaurant manager myself and would not allow my employees to make a customer feel they are being rushed out...
