I love hunting down smaller, non-chain places when traveling. Had never heard of Ramen Don Don. I love ramen so i decided to give it a try. Hard pass.
First, its located in a supermarket. That in itself isnt a deal breaker, just realize this isnt a restaurant environment. This is a food court. Food ordering was a bit confusing. You actually order at the place to the right of Ramen Don Don and then the food is prepared.
Portions are large, plenty of food. Broth was good too. That's pretty much where it lost me. My noodles were not cooked well, thick and gummy. Was mostly broth. The guys serving set my bowl on the counter and maybe they called my number, maybe not. Never heard it but they went to the back of the serving area and sat talking. They were busy so there was confusion on whom the order belonged too. I finally asked and they gave me a number.... by then it was cold.
Overall, quality is probably a 4 out of 10. Staff is a 3. Environment is a 2. Tables were dirty and this is basically a cattle line for food.
What it is good for is cheaper eats. Pricing wasn't too bad and there isna moderate amount of food. Regardless, I would not return...
Read moreWe were here for the noodle actually. A little disappointing on the noodle part because it’s really not that great. Don’t trust google reviews.
The noodle is presentable however it lacks about everything. Price is good. Soup noodle comes in plastic bowl and flavor is zero. Apparently it’s one line to get all the food stand here late at night. There are a couple options.
The grocery however is huge here. We had a great time just wondering around the supermarket and check out Korean grocery. We end up getting some on sale items like sauce and snack which are great finds. We got here super late and therefore is not crowded at all. The shop does give a warning on their closing time so let...
Read moreFor pork tonkatsu (D10), the flavors were there. Pork cutlet was very thin, but juicy and had a good bite to it. The bowl came with a miso soup. As with all of the stalls at this H Mart food court, the complaint would be the value of the meal. The proportion of topping to rice just isn't there, and you are left with half a bowl of rice after having finished the tonkatsu. A thicker cutlet would solve this problem. The seating area is spacious, well...
