川粤小厨 Chuan Yue Kitchen — Restaurant in Claremont

Second time here. Came back because the first experience was nice - the owner's son, who was attentive and friendly, served us. The food was also very good.

Unfortunately, this time was not so great. Came on a 90+ degree day and it was quite warm inside. We asked the female who served us if the AC was on and she replied, "Oh, you're hot?". She then turned it on. Not sure why they wouldn't have the place cool so it's comfortable for those eating there.

We ordered a couple of dim sum items and they were fine. After we were served the food, the server never returned. Not once. In fact, we waited pretty long after we finished before we got up and just asked for the bill. We were the only ones there. Another party left shorty after we arrived so they were not busy. Not one person came in, not even for to go orders.

What made this worse, is the owner laid down on the booth in the back corner watching something on his phone loudly. Our server was also on her phone chatting away with the owner. We couldn't believe that neither of them bothered to check on us. Just plain rude. Who does that??...

The food here is terrible. My comments are probably not necessary just look at the pictures. “Pan fried” noodles with egg? Was a soupy bowl of mushy noodles with a raw egg swirled in and zero flavor. XLB were small sad and flavorless. Beef rice rolls looked like they were dropped on the floor or something, all mushed up and more beef outside than inside. No flavor. I’ve had this dish dozens of times and this was easily the worse. To top it off service was terrible. And do not trust thier menu pictures, lol nothing looks even close to what you get....

The waiter had a very good attitude, but there was only one person working in the whole restaurant. Many customers came in, and only the first two main dishes were served; the next two dishes took more than 20 minutes to arrive. The food was very average—I’ve lived in Guangzhou for 20 years and have never had this kind of so-called Cantonese cuisine. The spicy boiled beef was also very mediocre.
