This has to be the most dreadful and horrible dining experience I have ever had. Shogun was one of the first places my husband took me to when we moved here over 13yrs ago. It was the place we'd go for a fancy dining experience, but we hadn't been in years. We wanted sushi and hibachi to celebrate buying a new house.
Our first indicator that we should have left was the hibachi area was closed. The second indicator that we should have left was the waitress yelling at the staff and being rude to the customers. The nail on the coffin should have been seeing the lack of supplies at the sushi station.
We were looking through the menu and the waitress rushed us and was rude. I wanted to order a side of rice for my son, but she gave me an attitude about it and insisted we had to order an entree in order to get any sides. My husband ordered an entree. She also didn't want me to order a soup and salad without an entree either. Before I could look at the menu more, she quickly took them away. We order 5 sushi rolls, gyoza, and vegetable tempura, lobster and filet hibachi.
The appetizers, soup, and salad were good, but everything else was horrible. The first sushi roll (Spicy Spider roll) was extremely fishy, which is a huge indicator that it wasn't fresh. We refused to eat it. The second roll (Kentucky derby roll) was very cool and mushy. The roll had either a single shrimp or half a scallop on top. For the price you pay, I would expect a little bit more. The 3rd roll (top secret roll) just tasted like smoke and burned. There was no flavor at all. The 4th roll (Shogun Chef Special roll) was the better of the 5, but it was so large that I couldn't even eat it. There was a cloudy milky sauce that I was questioning too. The last roll (Hot Mama) was decent, but it was nothing but sauce and so many conflicting sauces. The entrees took over an hour to come to the table. The steak was over cooked. The lobster was maybe half a tail. The rice was undercooked and the noodles were cold.
After the Spider roll I started feeling ill and my stomach was in knots the whole meal. All the rolls didn't taste good. The fish didn't seem fresh. The waitress continue to be rude to all the customers and even yelled at the sushi chef for getting an order wrong. It was extremely unprofessional and I felt that I couldn't complain because of the hostility. Another table had wrong orders and the waitress argued with them. At the same table, a woman feel at the table and none of the staff came to check on her, but all the other customers came to assist and help. Through out the whole dinner, we never got plates. We used the appetizer plates for the kids to have something to eat off of, but as we waited for the entree she took it away. We had to use the soy sauce dishes. When she say we didn't eat the rolls, she questioned us. We said we didn't like them and she mumbled under her breath at us and brought us to go boxes anyway. I felt obligated to use them, but threw it away immediately.
It is so very, very disappointing to have a place go so downhill after so many fond memories. However, considering I have been sick all night with a queasy stomach, we will not be going...
Read moreI am so disappointed in this restaurant. We moved to Clarksville almost 8 years ago & had eaten here a few times. The food was good but the woman that serves you was always quite rude so we stopped going. We decide for my sons bday to give it another try. We’ve been trying all the hibachi in Clarksville as our favorite closed down a year ago. Anyway I called a couple days before and made a reservation for 6 adults and 1 toddler needing a high chair. For 7pm. Gave my phone number and all specifics needed. We arrive ON TIME. They have 1 grill already mid cook, great, and 2 2 person couples eating salads and drinks at a table. They make us sit at the door and wait 10/15 minutes before seating us. And another 5 or so before taking our drink order. It slowly becomes very obvious the (still rude woman) taking our order and the cook already cooking for 1 table with another table waiting are the only two employees. So we pieced together that we would have to wait at least another half an hour to an hour before they even start making our food. And we have a 14 month old with us. Now I do completely understand being understaffed these days. However, I called ahead and made a reservation. They knew all of our specifics, and that we would have a toddler with us which does mean that we cannot wait like normal adults, that don’t really mind waiting. So they could’ve taken the time to call us and let us know they had two tables come in they did not have reservations and then it would probably be 30-45 minutes before a table would even begin cooking. Instead they said nothing to us and just left us waiting. The whole situation was uncomfortable and very unwelcoming. We decided to take our bday party & $400 ticket to Yamato hibachi & had a wonderful time. It’s not my meaning to stop these people from being in business, but instead to stop customers from having experiences like we did. I would strongly suggest just going...
Read moreI've lived here going on 8.5 years, and this had always been a favorite of mine, my wife also had been going here off and on since she was a teenager. We always dined in. Every time my wife and I have gone up there, we're always greeted by the same older woman working there and she's always extremely rude to us, rushes us through our order, rushes us through our conversation, etc.
My wife and I ordered take out yesterday and not only was our food over cooked to all get out.. WHAT WE ORDERED WAS NOT ALL IN THE BAG. We should not go out of our pockets... pay SEVENTY DOLLARS FOR FOOD AND NOT GET EVERYTHING WE PAID FOR!
On top of me calling and the same woman, her answering, making excuses for why what we paid for wasn't in the bag.
We will NOT be returning to this restaurant!
Edit to add response: she has been there a long time, as long as I've been going! I'm not trying to get her fired by any means, just a bit of an attitude adjustment and the fact that she doesn't listen! We know that typically to go orders don't include the soup and salad, that's why my wife specifically asked when she went in to order but the same woman cut her off mid sentence and said " it comes with, it will be in the bag " because if it WAS NOT standard my wife was going to ADD IT to the order because we genuinely wanted the soup... shoot, the soup was the whole reason why we went in the first place. So that's why we both were so upset... because my wife specifically asked upon coming in " does the order come with blah blah blah " because if it DIDN'T, she was going to add it. Instead of her being able to finish her sentence, the same woman interrupted her to say it came with the order which was the entire reason for the frustration. That's why she...
