NEWLY REMODELED?!?!?!?!
The buffet bar has a limited amount of items unless you are going for like a salad. I'm not sure that all their items on the bar are at the proper temperatures as they should be. or They also are not labeled. An example is I had some soup that appeared to be I'm a beef broth and it was tepid. It didn't burn my 👄 when eating it and didn't require cooling off before I had it. Another example was the coleslaw. The mayo/dairy part mixed into the cabbage was runny and not cold.
The fried chicken was ok and I think the theme of the night was American comfort food (unless thats the same theme nightly). They had some runny meat looking stuff that I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be like beef pot roast, although after tasting it I still can't identify it.
I tried some jello and chocolate pudding...standard and in my opinion not cold enough. If you have a buffet label what things are please.
The peach cobbler appeared to be the only dessert item on the bar unless you count fruit, jello, and pudding. It was so mushy, that usually means too much butter was used to make it or it was made awhile back and kept hot under the warmer lights. This actually was kept hot enough to burn my 👄.
I was craving a chicken fried steak meal so I ordered it to go and had it later that night. I got chicken fried steak with brown gravy, rice pilaf which I did not see up on the buffet and green beans with chunks of potatoes. The chicken fried steak was soooooo salty. I visited a Shoneys in Nashville near the opry and ordered their chicken fried steak once and it tasted so much better.
I was told that if I ordered a side they served on the bar thats where they get it on meals ordered. I tried to choose items NOT on the bar on hopes they were made fresh in kitchen, however the green beans obviously were canned and the potatoes looked fresh and could have cooked longer. They were not uniformaly sliced as to cook evenly.
I used the facility on our way out amd the light leading to the outer door of the 🚺 room was dark..no bulb I don't believe and exposed wires.... not good. The bathroom was clean and the two stalls were roomy and left room on both sides of toilet with paper dispensers in an area as to not be a hinderence when seated on the toilet.
I visited this establishment Thanksgiving 2017 and was NOT Impressed. My husband and I just moved to the area from out of state. The bar was and still is small. The selections were and are still limited and in 2017 I give it that it was a national holiday and the location in the heart of atleast a dozen motel/hotels.
Of the folks that were eating that day I can guarantee if given a better option like eating with family or friends or hosting an event that's where they would rather be.
This establishment closed earlier this year for remodel. It's been opened back up for atleast the last month or two. Usually if a place shuts down for remodel or first opens up I usually try not to visit until they have been opened or opened back up for atleast 1-3 months to work out the kinks.
Of the crappy red colored paint indoors and possibly remodeled bathrooms although I don't remember how dirty nasty broken or clean they were before I don't know what was remodeled. The decor both in and out is kind of dated.
If given the buffet options between this particular Shoney's or a really good chinese buffet, golden corral, or a Ryan's steakhouse, this Shoney's would be in the bottom 2. Get it together Shoney's last summer I visited many of your locations and your food tasted better and there was more of a variety.
Knoxville, TN. Location had such a big bar with so many options. We revisited this location because it is less than a mile from where we reside. Also from where we were seated to the waitress station it made it hard to wave down our waitress when we needed her. We could...
Read moreMy husband and I travel from a distance this place use to be so good and the staff was friendly but it's changed. My husband had a piece of raw fried catfish that made him sick. The waitress Kendra was rude saying I just work here well no duh that's why we asked you to make it right. So the manager came out and said oh the fish yeah no one else has complained about it as if we were lien which you could clearly see the dough at the top was not cooked as well as the fish inside was RAW, but guess he was having an off day. Then to top it off they said they would discount his food due to he had no appetite after eating raw fish which can cause food poisoning. The waitress Kendra decided to add her own tip of 21.04 to the tab, & tried to make it out like my husband added the tip, as if we wouldn't notice that they not only added extra to charge but barely gave a five dollar discount. Making the bill almost 50 bucks, which was more than the original bill and we drank water and got zero refills. We noticed the charge after leaving and halfway home had to turn around and go back, which was a waste of gas & time. I sat in the car and my husband went in and the the waitress that served us Kendra through the window took off in a fast walk when she seen him for some odd reason. Luckily the manager Mike did make it right by refunding the tip. I understand people make mistakes, but how you handle the mistakes and the attitude matters. We had plenty of money that's not the issue we weren't trying to get anything for free, but it's important that food is properly cooked so no one gets sick. And when a situation is address no attitude is necessary just be kind & do the right thing without smart mouths. The entire meal should have been free from the issue, but May God bless the people that work here. I pray they have a change of heart and attitude next time a situation arises. Needless to say they lost our business. And the place doesn't look the cleanest either. Needs better staff & cooks, as well as better customer service. If you eat here do so with caution check your food from the bar especially...
Read moreNormally I love shoney's but this time wasn't it. I wanted coffee and our server Kiana had told me the coffee was "unfresh" so I opted for just a glass of water. Odd but i went along with it. We got the buffet and the food was good but the lady managing what was being put on the buffet, Carmen?, had a real attitude problem. We asked Kiana when the biscuits might be returning to the buffet and she said she'd let us know. When the biscuits arrived at the buffet, Carmen asked customers at the buffet if they were the ones asking about biscuits in a nasty tone as if to single one of them out. Most of the customers said no and looked away sheepishly due to her tone, not the most inviting especially to the new patrons coming up to the buffet. My husband looked up at her and said everyone was asking about biscuits and she gave him a mean look. Carmen, who at this point looked very angry at this point, was slamming the food containers into the buffet. I've been to shoneys and seen her here enough to notice this wasn't normal. I get that she may have been having a bad time at work, but dont let that ruin your whole day. The tension made the atmosphere off-putting and awkward. I noticed other patrons were getting coffee and drinks quite fast. I felt singled out not being told there was fresh coffee as I'd have to get my coffee elsewhere. Kiana definitely looked green as a server when she neglected our table's drinks. As we were leaving, Carmen had refilled the condiments while trying to hurry and spilling some drops on the floor. The manager, Kathy, took this moment to chew Carmen out in front of customers just behind the bar. I cringe when seeing this in public because public humiliation is never cool. As a manager, etiquette in front of the public should be number 1, discretion for a one-on-one conversation is ideal for these matters. I normally enjoy the friendliness of the servers that work here, but it will be awhile until we...
