Came here on a Friday night on recommendation from DonnyLB for a fun place to celebrate my husband’s new job/promotion. Originally walked into the entrance for the carryout spot which was filled with smoke; but we meander through and found the entrance to the actual gastropub. It was Friday 6pm and this place was jumpin’. There’s a QR code at the door for you to add your name on the list; our wait said 30-40 mins to expect a text/call so we headed out and found a bar to grab a drink and wait.
About 45 mins later we get a text asking if it’s ok to be seated outside, 90 degrees and bad air quality so nope we decided to wait. Another 30 mins, we’re called in, and seated near the entrance at a four-top.
Immediately I love this place. The atmosphere was so fun and music bumping. Service after being seated was good, along with some cold water and utensils, they brought over a free appetizer of Tteokbokki. It was my first indication of his food the food would be. Perfectly chewy, saucy and spic. We ordered drinks - beer and strawberry soju cocktail (a bit too sweet for me but very refreshing- next time I’ll ask for less sweet).
Everything we ordered to eat was perfect starting with the kimchi fried rice, bone in wings with two flavors (Soy Garlic & Magic powder) and pickled radish. Both flavored wings were hot, juicy & still crispy even though heavily sauced. The magic powder one has a seasoning on it that we could not identify other than having some sugar in it, but it was a phenomenal flavor. Lastly we had the Bulgogi! Excellent with a huge portion full 1lb of beef served with lettuce, white rice and sweet egg, fresh kimchi and gochugang. We had a ton of food left over and it was just as yummy the next day.
There is a service button on the table but we never needed to use it because our server was very attentive. If you can be patient when waiting to be seated this place is worth it. We loved the food and atmosphere. Plan to be back frequently.
UPDATE: went on a Sunday night and it was less busy; able to sit a table of 5 within half hour wait. This time we used the little call button for help and service was great. This was first time having the majic fries and baby they were GOOD. Perfectly Crispy fries and I liked dipping in the...
Read moreThe food was really yummy, especially the spicy chicken with cheese. We put in our name around 7:06 and were told it was going to be a 20 min wait max. We came back 40 min later after never receiving a call and were seated quickly (I couldn’t help but notice there were many names on the wait list after mine that had been served before us). I went there with four other friends who were all over 21 (I’m 20) but when they tried to order alcohol the waitress said she needed all of our IDs. I informed her I was not drinking and was only getting a sprite, but she said she still needed to see my ID. So because I was not of drinking age, all my friends at the table who were of age were not able to order drinks. I’m not sure what their policy for ordering drinks is, but my friend has been here with her parents and she was not asked for ID when they ordered alcohol. I don’t understand why they were not able to order just because of me. I felt really bad since we were there to celebrate my friend’s birthday and she wasn’t able to order any Soju (part of the reason we came). Also the waitress was only staring at me for my ID even though there were other people at the table. She didn’t offer us her name but she looked younger than the other servers and had medium-length black hair. However, we receieved our food from a different (older, Korean woman) worker who was very nice. I think this policy is important to know for other groups of people planning to come here and order alcohol with underage family members/friends and I’m still not quite clear on the “age requirements” of the entire table. If I looked much younger or came with my parents, would the same standard apply? This has never happened to me before at any other restaurant so I was...
Read moreRight off the bat, the Toppoki was great, a perfect start with a small spicy appetizer they provided once we were seated. We ordered the Soy Garlic Dumplings and the 16-piece Noori Boneless Wings in soy garlic and magic sprinkle coating (8pc each coat). The dumplings were a must have, an extra bonus when mixed with the topokki sauce. They were perfectly sweet, savory, had a wonderful crunch, and the fillings were flavorful. One of the easiest recommendations I could make of a dish there. The Noori chicken was giant, a far bigger portion than we realized but will definitely be great leftovers. The soy garlic was a tad sweeter than expected on the chicken, but it still paired really well. As for the magic sprinkle, it was good but it's particularly difficult to describe how it tastes. I suppose it's most similar to a parmesan herb powder coating, but even then, I feel it isn't quite right. My wife however wasnt particularly fond of it and passed them over to me, which I gladly took. The pickled radish was great, super refreshing, and just what you want when you've stuffed yourself with fried food. My wife was not a fan of the coleslaw, but she usually only likes it half the time and admits it just wasn't to her tastes this time. Overall, the food and atmosphere was fantastic, and we definitely plan to come back...
