Charlie's Pizza — Restaurant in Claymont

Great food here! Their pizza is fantastic! I'm not a fan of crispy hard crust, and I find charlies pizza crust to be soft and delicious.

Their oven is conveyor belt style, and while its coming out they will rotate the pie/ slow down the belt to finish it while they brush the crust with what I believe to be butter. Resulting in delicious soft tasty crust. I would call it doughy but NOT undercooked. With the garlic butter they give you its almost like you have a breadstick after each slice! mmm

Also highly recommend their wings! Their hot sauce is unique and delicious. The size of the wings are larger than anywhere else locally. I can only eat 4-5 of the ''killer'' wings before I need to take a break. If you or your friends want to try and spicy-challenge I dare you.

The cheesesteaks are also fantastic the steak actually taste like steak, and not grey-meat like taste from the other cheesesteak place. Quality over quantity.

I find the staff to be pleasant and straightforward. When taking orders over the phone they may be short because they are multi-tasking, but don't be discouraged the end product will be delicious!

Tip: Call your order in instead of ordering at counter. The counter person may be occupied with register/ taking pizzas out of oven. They always have someone in back doing prep work that's available to answer the phone. Trust me.

Although this review is long after growing up on their food, and now being adult and appreciating how they've been feeding the community for decades this review is well deserved.

Sad how much this place has gone down hill. Used to love going here but the food has changed for the worse and the customer service is absolutely terrible. Ordered 2 sandwiches but instead got sandwich and a pizza. They ended up making the other sandwich but upon opening it the roll was half empty. Drove back to have it remade again and dont you know it was the same exact sandwich just heated up. So once again I drove back and requested a refund. The guy who claims he is the manager said I was a liar and I brought them back a different sandwich. Oh yes I went to another location and ordered a chicken cheesesteak to return there. What sense would that even make? I asked him for his name and he said I dont need to give you that and walked away. They lost a long time customer, shame because I used to rant and rave...

Tried this place cause of the reviews, not even sure how can people rate their pizza as NY pizza?! If I can rate their pizza I would give it a -10. I bought a buffalo pie and I will never go back to this place ever….. Some reviews mention about Quality food?! What do you know about quality? This is not even close to the $1 slice pizza in NYC, mind you compare it with the real NY pizza…. You should go and open a CANDY shop instead, pizza is not your thing…. Should have bought Dominoes or papa johns instead of this piece of **. It was the first time and the last time I will step in to this place. Also they are not even welcoming, a bunch of miserable faces behind the counter…. Go to this place for a miserable pizza pie…. Without exaggeration, this is the worst pizza I ever...
