Ishy's Grill — Restaurant in Clayton

Ishy's is a very clean establishment and the music is decent. The food however, is not as good. I ordered wings and the special, a black and bleu ribeye steak with fried okra and loaded potato soup. I also ordered a glass of wine. The steak was the worst cut of steak that I have ever seen. It was actually so gristly and tough, at medium rare, that it was uneatable. The fried okra was freezer burned and slimy. The loaded potato soup was like creamed potato with a little cheese and bacon. Luckily, the wine was okay. The server was nice and noticed that we(special X 2) had not touched much of our food. She avoided the question, " How was everything?" The wings were the best part of the meal, but even those were typical frozen wings, lathered in buffalo sauce, with a side of ranch to make it go down easier. Wing score out of a 1-5, a simple 2. The bar is off limits and the selection is very minimal.

This restaurant is confusing. The menu is all over the place. If they made Mexican food only, it would probably be great. But there are already several other places for that. It's a shame, could be a decent place. Otherwise, you are better off somewhere else. l wish this...

I don't go to this restaurant often, in fact I was actually having to the Sunday Diner next door for their Friday seafood night but didn't realize they stopped it at 7:00 p.m. LOL. Not wanting to get back in the rain, I decided to sit down and look at the menu in order the very simple meal of fish and chips.

They're not joking when they say that they serve their meals with a little bit of flair. The food was appealing, their notion of a side salad was a very generous portion (although I wish cheese was one of the ingredients). Both the fish strips and the fries were cooked perfectly and the 1399 price was incredibly reasonable in this day and age.

I definitely plan to return more often. Just like the Sunday Diner which is in the same out of the way shopping strip, this is off the main drag behind United Community Bank so a lot of the tourists tend to miss it but the locals sure do know about it and anyone looking for great food, great service, and fair prices ought to use the GPS on their phone it made their way to...

We didn't start out there, but dinner at Ishy's Grill last night was so delicious! We went down the mountain to try the new Asian restaurant, Hokkie. Apparently, so did the rest of Rabun County: The line there went around the lobby and out the door. And this is still the soft opening! (Sign says they're still ramping up staff and service is slow.) So we stood in the parking lot, looked around, and decided on Ishy's Grill. They're without their beer and wine license at the moment. But the food and friendly servers more than made up for that. I had the ribeye and fried okra, and the tomato basil soup. Hubby chose salad and the pork chop and fried okra. I admit, his was tastier than mine! I have never tasted a better bone-in pork chop. Never. The presentation was beautiful. The menu's diverse options cater to every picky family member: seafood, pasta, salads, and a good selection of dessert options.
