This place is AMAZING!! If you are in Clayton, you absolutely have to come here. The hostess and the servers are some of the nicest people we met in Georgia. They were busy when we got there but we got seated very quickly. The restaurant is huge and has a very airy feel. The ambiance is a mix of a simple restaurant with splashes of Spanish flair. There are very interesting paintings for sale on their walls.
Onto what we ate - we were all starving thanks to hiking all day. Yet, I would've loved the food even if I hadn't been hungry. Delicious bowls and very authentic flavors. We started with the Sangria, which was delicious. This was followed by the Yucca cheese fritter, which was a bomb of melting cheese in the mouth. I haven't had another yucca cheese fritter as good as this one. The cilantro dip was a perfect accompaniment and the only problem with it was that it wasn't enough!
For the main course, we ordered the Picadillo a Cabello, the Vaca Frita, the Chachapa with Chicken meal, and the Americana burger. The portions were all very filling. My brother enjoyed his Picadillo a Cabello - cuban style ground beef, a fried egg, beans, avocado, sweet plantains over rice. The sweet plantains definitely stole the show. My Vaca Frita was definitely the star of the table - mojo, lime and onion laced shredded beef carnitas, avocado, beans, sweet plantains and rice. It really was a Chef's kiss. The shredded beef in itself was delicious, but to eat it with everything else in the bowl was heaven. My cousin's Chachapa and chicken was also delicious but we all agreed that the chachapa (corn pudding cake) was better than the chicken. My other cousin's Americana burger was very good, especially the fries, which had a hint of Cajun spices to them. I got an order of Tres Leches to go. It was ok. For as amazing at the rest of the meal was, the tres leches seemed a little too flair-y with extra components that it didn't need. So it didn't feel as satisfying to have it as the food.
Even so, our experience here was great. Prices are reasonable. This is an absolute must-go. If there is one place you can stop to eat in Clayton, it...
Read moreBrought my Cuban bestie with me to be the true judge of the quality of food, though I'm pretty accustomed to quality Cuban food from living in Miami for 3+ years, so we both had high expectations!! For the most part, our expectations were satisfied! I'll start out with the biggest NO from my authentic Cuban dinner pal, which was the croquetas de jamón, which struck her as pre-prepared and were absolutely not authentic to the croquetas we know and love from Miami. Another criticism she had was that Cuban food has white rice with their dishes, but this restaurant did not. Outside of these 2 relatively small qualms, the food was excellent! We also got queso frito and beef empanadas (authentic with the olive!!) for apps, which were both delicious! I had a rice bowl with steak tips, which my only request would have been to add more of the crema sauce into the dish to get that flavor more generously spread throughout! My pal had a veggie and meat plate with tacos, which she was pleased with outside of the lack of white rice. So, you will definitely find some great dishes here and you can always go and decide for yourself!
The service was decent, it wasn't too crowded when we went on a Monday night, but my empty cup stayed empty a lot longer than I liked. Jonathan was our waiter, who was very kind and tried his best to answer our questions about the food and history of the restaurant.
The atmosphere is very cool and vibrantly colored, really enjoyed the vibe and their Spanish music playlist was fuegooooo 🔥🔥
Overall, we would go back to try some other dishes and would recommend this...
Read moreA few weeks ago I invited a few friends to ride over to Jasper and have lunch. This gave me the idea to post a question and have my friends vote on the area/restaurant I should try next!! This way if someone lives around the area OR if someone wants to join me for a ride, they can.
The Hush Cuban Kitchen & Bar was voted for first and they are located in Clayton, Georgia. This meant a good ride was possible as well 🙌 My buddy Rob lives in Clayton and was excited we were getting a chance to try this spot out so I'm glad it did not disappoint!!
Everything we had was delicious. My buddy @motovlogic wasn't a fan of the fried cheese but everyone else loved them. The restaurant itself is very spacious and everything looks good. We sat outside and were hit with this awesome breeze that stayed the entire visit. Service was exceptional and the group was well taken care of.
Pictured here are....
