Loved this place! Decided to go on a fun date adventure with the bf to try something different, so we splurged and got the Deluxe Afternoon Tea Experience. No regrets whatsoever, and we WILL be going back! We booked via Opentable the night before for a 1:30 reservation, and they were able to seat us early. Vibe: The decor is awesome - lots of Tiffany blue and gold, fun flowers and art. There's even a regal-looking chair for photo ops. Every table has a couple of roses in a vase, gold silverware, and rose-themed dinnerware. Service: Was awesome! Our server was super attentive, patient, and very nice. She was accomodating, and got everything right. We also met Shannon (and baby Denzel). Shannon was so nice and checked in a couple of times to make sure we were welcomed, and enjoying our time there. Super gracious and kind. Food: You get their berry salad as a starter (lettuce, blueberries, strawberries, and walnuts with a raspberry vinaigrette). I asked for it without walnuts and they easily accomodated. Very tasty and light. Then you get to choose what kind of tea you want, along with sandwich options. For sandwiches, you get your choice of one full sandwich, and a half sandwich. We went with a chicken salad sandwich on croissant (white and wheat bread are also options), and I chose the half cucumber cream cheese on white bread while the bf went with the half egg salad on white bread. All of the sandwiches were delicious and quite filling. Chicken salad was definitely my favorite though. When they do bring them out, the sandwiches are at the bottom of the tea tray, scones are on the middle tray, and desserts on top. Since we went with the deluxe option, we also got a plate with 4 chocolate-covered strawberries (2 per person), and 2 glasses of champagne each. The scones were blueberry, and white chocolate raspberry. They came with a berry jam and Devonshire cream. They were really good, but I would've preferred a plain or vanilla option. Totally on me, though - should've probably asked. I ended up taking mine home and eating them a few days later and they definitely held up, still really good. For the dessert tray, we had a couple of mini red velvet cupcakes, 2 little banana pastry (i think), and a couple of macarons (vanilla lime, and chocolate). I only had the macarons, which I really enjoyed. Bf said the red velvets were great, but the banana pastry things were good but a little overpowering. Chocolate-covered strawberries were top notch, and so pretty. I may or may not have had all 4 - they are my favorite. There were so many tea options! It was very hard to choose, but we ended up with the gunpowder green tea, and the white strawberry basil. Would definitely recommend both, and there are SO MANY that I still want to try. As a sidenote, lots of parking in the plaza. Would 100000% recommend and go back. Date night or fun hangout with the girls. Definitely a great value and a...
Read moreWent this week for, I think, our 5th or 6th tea experience with Joseph’s Tea. We have been for Mother’s Day, birthdays, and just because days. As always, staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and delightful. We often have the owner serving us, who is super sweet, always helpful, and very generous with information. We have also had a few young women serve us, who have also been very polite and respectful, making our visits special each time.
The decor is pastels with touches of gold and artwork hearkening to Paris, London, etc. The beautiful china is mismatched for each guest at the table - the more people you are with, the more opportunities to see the lovely patterns on display at your table. I love that the staff all wear fascinators and they sell them as well, along with lace gloves, and all flavors of their teas with tea accessories!
Select your tea flavor from an extensive list, sorted by amount of caffeine for which I am grateful since I can not have it. Tea arrives piping hot in a personal china pot, followed by a delicious mixed green salad with blueberries, strawberries, and walnuts in a tasty sweet, berry vinaigrette.
Shortly, a beautiful 3 tier tray is presented with your choice of croissant sandwich (my vegan croissant is usually a vegan chickpea salad that tastes fabulous - dare I say better than chicken? Yes!), plus another choice half sandwich (this one I select TuNO on whole wheat). Both vegan and non-vegan selections are presented next to each other, but the tray is explained when presented, and there is no problem knowing which is which. The next tier has the day’s scone selection (they even have vegan scones, which, although do not taste as delish as the real thing, I still am grateful I can have a scone!), along with a tasty sweet jam and Devonshire cream, along with a tea biscuit. The top tier is graced by a mini cupcake with a delicious icing, and a couple other sweet options; in my vegan case, two different brownie bite options, both super tasty, leaving my non-vegan adult daughter jealous!
The current price is $38., plus a $4. up charge for the vegan option. I hate the added cost for vegan, but I understand it - vegan is harder to make, requires more (and specialized) ingredients that usually cost more. I have finished my tea before and received a second pot of another flavor. It is expensive, but well worth the price for this experience.
When my daughters were little, we used to take them to The Vinoy for Afternoon Tea. Talk about expensive - $35.+ but 18+ years ago! This experience is a wonderful chance to relive those days, and is right on par. Thank you to the Joseph’s for opening this delightful tea experience. We can’t wait to go back for...
Read moreI recently visited Joseph’s Tea for to celebrate my birthday. The overall experience was OK but I probably wouldn’t go back.
Upon arrival, we were taken to our table at which point I confirmed with the owner that we had one cancellation from our party. She immediately reminded me about the cancellation policy in front of my whole party, even though I had not objected to the cancellation policy (which was a $25 deposit). Others in the group also thought this was odd as well. Not a big deal, just not very professional.
After this, we met our server and she was great. She was very attentive, cheery, and answered all of our questions.
The tea and food came out pretty quickly. All those in our party agreed the tea was delicious. We all shared from our tea pots and really enjoyed the tea.
The scones and deserts however, were kind of disappointing. The scones definitely tasted store bought and they were chewy. If you frequent tea rooms as much as I do, you know some tea rooms use clotted cream, others Devonshire cream. The cream they served with the scones tasted like neither of these and was actually kind of bad.
You also get to choose between two sandwiches - 1 whole and 1 half of a sandwich. I wish there was an option to try 3 halves so it was more like a traditional tea experience with small finger sandwiches, rather than one whole sandwich and 1 finger sandwich.
Also, when the food was brought out for our party, the food for the no show guest was also brought out. I was informed I could take her food home in a box (since I had to pay for it anyway). I was disappointed with this because it meant the food was sitting out during our whole meal and not in a refrigerator. Also, I was just given the sandwiches for the no show in my party…. I wasn’t given the option of which sandwiches to take home - that decision was made for me. I was told it was because they “prepare everything the day before”. I can understand that with the scones and deserts, but everyone in my party chose their own sandwiches when we arrived so there’s no way they could have prepared her specific sandwiches ahead of time. All this to say, if I’m paying for my no-shows meal, I should have been able to choose the sandwiches.
As far as the atmosphere, it was nice and bright. The room was very spacious and the place settings were very cute. They also have a shop in the front where you can buy gifts and trinkets.
Overall, the experience was...
