The Chicken Salad Chick Experience (Walk-in Edition). I am not a stranger to Chicken Salad Chick. I once lived in Greensboro and ate at that location years ago. So I was excited to see one open in the area. On this night, I cut it close to 8 o'clock, near their closing time to order food. They were the most pleasant individuals when placing my order. When you enter 30 minutes before closing, staff look at you crazy at some places. Not here, and I felt welcomed.
I ordered their Classic Salad made with spring lettuce, grape tomatoes, and cucumbers, with a choice of any scoop of chicken salad, and I selected the Fancy Nancy. This chicken salad has fuji apples, seedless grapes, and pecans mixed in. I chose their Italian salad dressing for my salad. I also ordered a side of broccoli salad, made with fresh broccoli florets tossed in a sweet vinegar-based sauce with shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and topped with crispy bacon.
Once home, I enjoyed the chicken salad and salad combination. I felt like I was eating a sandwich minus the bread, and I loved it! Everything felt light and refreshing. However, something was slightly off with the broccoli salad. Although I don't like wet broccoli salad, this one was kind of dry. I also bit into a hard piece of broccoli and bacon while eating. It was as if I was eating plastic of some sort and very strange.
Oh, I cannot forget to mention the cookie I received with my Classic Salad. BOMB!!!!!!!!! The best packaged presented sweet treat I have ever had in my life from a restaurant. Sweet, tasty, and I want a box of them all to myself! I could go on and on about the cookie treat I received.
So would I go back to Chicken Salad Chick? Of course, I would go back to Chicken Salad Chick if not just for their cookie, lol. Their customer service is outstanding and goes along with the Southern décor inside this establishment. Their specialty, their chicken salad, was delicious. I hope the next time I visit the broccoli salad is better than what I had. I have had their broccoli salad at their Greensboro location, and I hope this mishap happened from ordering before...
Read moreThis place is really growing on me! I've heard so much about Chicken Salad Chick that my expectations were really high. Yes, the chicken salad is really good! Not great but really good. I prefer my chicken salad with bigger chunks of chicken and not so finely shredded, but the tastes on some of the different salads are really good. Their classic version is pretty good, nothing very special to write home about. The Olivia's Old South version with sweet relish and eggs is much tastier; the chicken salad flavor I'm accustomed to. But the Fancy Nancy with fuji apples, grapes and pecans, and the Kickin Kay Lynne are both delicious! Great options for sweet and spicy versions. The Jalapeno Holly has potential, but I wish it had a little more heat. The flavor of jalapeno is there, but they are diced so finely, you can't really taste them. You certainly can't see them, and I wondered if they gave me the wrong thing. But the flavor is kinda there... like they use jalapeno juice instead. Nonetheless, I love that they have such a diverse array of flavors, sweet, savory, spicy, and classic. But, let me declare, their strawberry lemonade is ALL THAT!!!! Absolutely addictive, rivaling Chick-fil-A's frozen lemonade. You can taste little pieces of fresh strawberry, not fake strawberry flavor. I will frequent this place for the lemonade alone! On the flip side, the little iced cookie they give with each meal is probably one of the worst things I've ever eaten, and is an insult to cookies everywhere! Please rethink this -- it's not the way to end a good meal. This is what you might give your children to punish them! They'll never ask for...
Read moreAfter eating from here about 4-5 times this is my experience. Passable food. Broccoli salad is very dry, as was the pasta salad I truly wish they put a bit more care into their chicken salad. I would rather see less variety and better preparation. The overall flavor is decent but it seems clear to me they mass boil chicken breast, then shred it. From there, it seems they again use a machine to mix the entire batch. This makes the chicken salad very "stringy" and it becomes essentially a stringy paste. Now that they have their "base" they divide that up and add different ingredients for their varieties. While this is all speculation, it would explain the lackluster texture. Being a big fan of chicken salad, I've tried it at most places. I typically stay away from types that have fruit in their preparation. Mr. Dunderbaks in Hanes Mall had some of the best years ago. Chic-Fil-A had top tier chicken salad...Even Zaxbys was pretty decent. All of those locations either no longer exist or have taken chicken salad off their menu. In summary, its a 6/10 based on my life experience. If it still existed I would take a Chic-Fil-A chicken salad sandwich over this 10...
