We had a large event at Pixie and Bill’s with 30 people. Servers were young but did well with the group and were very professional. They told us the specials but did not give the prices. I specifically asked the price of the prime rib special and was told $34.95. I opted for it because it was the same cost as the filet, my usual go to. The flavor was good but the shrimp on top were hard and extremely over cooked. There were a couple of other small mistakes with our order, but I did not ask for corrections because of the large group and let it go. My daughter got the filet on the grill which was cooked perfectly but had absolutely no flavor. It needed some sort of sauce or something.
When receiving my bill, I noticed the price of the special was not $34.95 as stated, but $46.95. Pretty big difference in my book. I pulled the waiter aside and he apologized. He said he would talk to the manager and see if they could adjust it in some way. I appreciated the effort. He went ahead and charged me for the whole amount anyway. I had to track him down again and was told sorry, they couldn’t do anything about it. We had also ordered an appetizer, side salad, and martini all of which were $12 and under that could have been dropped from the bill but no effort was made. Because of our large group, tip was automatically added. My daughter is a freshman at Clemson so there will be many future visits and events. I will NOT be returning to Pixie and Bill’s again and will not plan any future group events there either. Sad they could not do anything and they lost future business because of it. Very...
Read moreWe arrived for our reservation at 5:10pm and were promptly seated. When we got to our seat we noticed that there were dirty dishes still on the table next to us, which raised some red flags. We ordered our drinks and apps. The drinks came and the dishes remained. The Bisque we ordered finally came, but it was cold and we sent it back and the dirty dishes remained. We ordered our entrees and the people 2 tables over got up and left, now there were 2 tables with dirty dishes. Our entrees arrived and the bisque we asked to be heated up still hadn’t come back, the 2 tables with dirty dishes remained. We had all ordered steak items and all of it was over cooked, tasteless, or both. I ordered a filet mignon medium rare with wine reduction, it came medium, chewy, and relatively flavorless. The people seated next to us got up while commenting on the plethora of dirty dishes around us. Then there were 3 tables with dirty dishes sitting on them. We finished our food while adding copious amounts of salt to make it tolerable. We asked for our check and still 3 tables with dirty dishes on them remained. We got up from our table and there were now 4 table in a row with dirty dishes on them. I would not be surprised to learn that they are still there while I’m writing this review. I work in hospitality and I can tell you that this was bad. Really Really Bad. Pixie and Bill’s should lower their prices because all aspects of the service I experienced left a lot...
Read moreOverview shows that this is a fine dining restaurant. It could’ve been a long time ago based on how many fine dining places were located in a predominantly farming community. With the rise of plethora of chain fast food franchises serving the students of Clemson U and the plentiful NBQ shacks, one would assume so until you enter the restaurant First image of an old large house with white tablecloths until you touch it. They are plastic. Excellent view and practical but not for fine dining ( napkins were cotton). The waiter a very polite young man offering excruciatingly slow and ineffective service (wine bottle was so late we had to wonder where he went, request fir second bottle was met with curious surprise) The third issue is in my opinion unacceptable one Serving home baked bread with one little dab of marge time NOT BUTTER. To our protests, the answer was “we always serve margarine”. Not in the fine fine dining places I eat and pay $50 per person. In a farming community where they go through the trouble if baking their own bread (unless they don’t) they serve margarine! The happy Cow Creamery is 45 min away! The food was good. The pork chop excellent the filet medallions hood the chicken Marsala ok and the baked seafood medley minus the crab indicated on the menu was-just ok. There us a real fine dining place in Clemson with similar prices and that’s where I will be when I want fine dining. Or 5 min down the road...
