Went for happy hour and dinner. Menu is online so make sure your phone is charged up. You scan a QR code to look at their online menu. Their happy hour is from 3pm to 6pm includes appetizers and drinks. Their pints are around $3.50 for craft brews during this time. Food is good but on the pricey side. Ordered the chili cheese queso dip as a happy hour did item for $6. The dip is thick and should have come with a spoon. Had to ask for a spoon because chips kept breaking off in the dip when trying to dip them in chili queso. Ordered a burger and it comes with chips as a side. Server offered to substitute fries or garlic rosemary fries but the menu doesn't specify how much the upcharge is for the fries being substituted. It turns out the upcharge is $3 for fries and $3.75 for garlic rosemary fries. Now the $14 burger with chips is a $18.00 burger with fries. Their entree selection is limited. They only had a strip steak for $29 and chicken tenders and waffles for $16 listed as entrees. I felt disappointed that they only had two entrees and no pasta dishes were included in the entrees. Seating ranges from high top tables inside on high bar stools, sitting at the bar on bar stools, sitting in a covered area that is open to the outside or sitting on a very nice streetside outside patio area with umbrella covered tables. Service was outstanding our server was friendly and attentive and made great suggestions on food and drink selections while in the process of ordering. I haven't tried everything on the menu but what I have ordered the food is high quality and tasted great. Disappointed with the quantity & selection of entrees and the fact that a $14 burger doesn't come with fries.

The South Side This was blocks away from Barrio where we ate the night before. It has a parking lot which is a plus. We were there on a holiday, so we were lucky that it was open and ready for business. Though we were warned that there was a shortage on staff so the wait time for service may be long. It was fine. Both places we went to are in an area called Tremont which has been described as “hipster paradise” and yes you can see it. Food. The enchiladas were actually a highlight. During this trip we have been burned, unfortunately not literally, by the taste of just horribleness of the uncooked tortillas we had encountered in Virginia. (We were driving back to Chicago and stopped in Cleveland, yes on purpose). So the enchiladas here not bad, I would order them again. My cobb salad was delicious, I mean it’s a salad, you can’t mess up a salad. The chicken and waffles were decent, the chicken was just oversize nuggets or chicken fingers. We also ordered a ramen, which we should have read the description of. We are used to ramen having a broth or being a soup, and though we did get the noodles and stuff it just felt like it was missing something. Again, its just us assuming it would be broth-y and not like a dry soup. Overall I do recommend the place service was normal, the waitstaff was attentive and we didn’t encounter any exceeding long wait. If we find ourselves in Cleveland again, yes on purpose, we might stop here again.

AFTER posting my review and looking at my receipt I saw others said: THEY CHARGE A 2.5 PERCENT FEE TO USE A CREDIT CARD... WHO DOES THAT!!!!??? We arrived promptly at 10 for brunch. We are from out of town. First impressions were excellent. Really nice restaurant. Menu was diverse and prices were reasonable. Coffee was very good!! We ordered the empanadas and gravy to start. The gravy was yummy, the inside of the empanada was good but the shell of the empanada has zero flavor. This is where it starts to go down hill. I ordered the home style chicken and eggs, French toast, chicken, and eggs. French toast was amazing. Eggs were kinda weird. ***Chicken was literally a frozen chicken patty***. Super surprised. At a place like this I expected fresh fried chicken. Chicken tasted as expected. Pretty disappointed. Wife had Spanish stacked omlet. Looked amazing. Again, not much flavor. Super disappointing. It's as if the cook isn't tasting the food. We got a side of tots as well. Again, looked amazing, had ZERO flavor... No salt on them at all. Bland. If I was a local, I'd be really disappointed. Unfortunately if we visit Cleveland again, we won't be coming back here.

The good: Plenty of seating, including outdoors. The okay: Food. The wings were actually pretty good, but not hot because they didn't bring it out as an appetizer. Salmon dish could have been better seasoned. There was visible seasoning on it, so I was confused as to why it was a bit bland. My guess is they didn't use much salt/pepper or they only seasoned the batter, not the salmon itself. The "bad": Service. I visited here some years ago and decided to come back when I stopped through Cleveland. I didn't remember it being anything special, but this time was even less so. I asked specifically if sauce was served on the side for the salmon dish and ordered blue cheese + ranch with the wings. The sauce was not on the side which definitely took away from the meal and we didn't receive anything with the wings (which came out with the meal). The waitress then preceded to check on other tables multiple times while not even coming to our table. I will say they did comp the wings since they service was markedly late. I don't think I'd eat in again there. Maybe just takeout for the wings.

I am an early riser so appreciate places that open early for lunch. On the day I visited this establishment, I had trekked from the Terminal Tower (after arriving from Little Italy), down Ontario to the Eagle Avenue Viaduct bridge over the RTA, down the seven flights of stairs to Canal Street, down the Stones Levee Bridge and approach to West 3rd Street. Following West 3rd, across the fabled West Third Street WPA lift Bridge, I climbed Literary Hill to the Tremont district. After an abbreviated tour around the plethora of catholic/orthodox places of worship, I contrived to arrive at the restaurant soon after the opening bell. I was especially interested in sampling their lunch time only lobster gaspacho special. This dish is close to a religious experience. I very nearly ordered a second serving of the same delicacy but instead ordered their Tremont burger which they very obligingly served rare. I will certainly return. I wish to taste their lobster bisque and, while I am still culinarily skeptical of the fried chicken/waffle combination, I might thy their take on the dish.

The South Side is a great bar and restaurant located in Tremont. This establishment is near other hot spots in the area and also close to the highway for a quick eat and run! No need to search for street parking due to a large parking lot located directly across the street. Inside, the bar has been modernized and equipped with plenty of table seating and bar seating. The bartenders and servers are all nice who make consistent checks on drinks and tables. Speaking of drinks, I enjoyed a Bloody Mary (or 3) and I was very impressed. They make their own mix which has a unique flavor that will have you requesting more than just one! I also feasted on the shrimp and chicken tacos with a side of lobster mac & cheese. I think that their lobster mac was delicious, but the tacos lacked (still good though) in presentation and flavor compared to other local restaurants. Overall, The South Side is a must visit restaurant in Cleveland! You'll leave satisfied with money left in your pocket! Give it a try!
