Worst place ever. My daughter and I attempted to bring a cat that abandoned by our neighbors and this sweet cat just had six kittens. I could not care for that many cats and I was told to bring them in. Not that I needed an appointment or that I would need to pay money. When we get the lady at the front desk was cold and short, sort of rude. The grabs the cat out of the box by the back of the neck after we told her she was a sweet cat not a feral cat. The lady left the cat dangling while she looks at her. Puts her on the desk and holds her down to what I though was rough and gave her a shot. When I asked what type of shot she was giving her. She ignored me for a moment and then said feline leukemia. Then she said I should of had an appointment and the people up front should not of told me to bring her in without an appointment and then tells me I had to pay $60.00 to drop off the cat. I told her this was not my animal and she said it was for their cost of care. I told her I understood and If it was my pet that I was surrendering I would understand paying. I told her I was not paying for an animal that was not mine. She calls the security and he was even ruder to me than the lady at the desk. I was a little frustrated at that point because no one told me up front what to expect. Then the security guard tells me that was a great way to act in front of my child. Well my child is fifteen and a half and has her own opinion. She wanted to volunteer there when she turned 16 because she loves animals. Then the lady asked me again for the money and I told her I did not have any money. Then the security guard said you have no money on you at all. Rude! So I dug through my purse and I did have ten dollars and I told them that is all I had on me. I was so frustrated I told them I wanted the cat and kittens and I would take better care of them then they would. The security guard told me I had to give them my ten dollars to get the cat and kittens back. Then another guy started to put the cat and the kittens back in the box and did not have gloves on. He was handling newborn kittens with his hands. Then lady at the desk said, "you might want to put gloves on" Sure thing cause the mom to reject the kittens. I would never recommend anyone taking any pet there. The are rude and don't handle the animals properly and all they cared about was getting the money and not protecting this sweet cat and her...
Read moreSick kitty adoption. Brought him home and within 2 weeks my reduced sphynx of 6 years developed the same upper reapitory infection the new adopted cat was sent home with. Took my sphynx to my vet and sure as anything the new cat almost killed my 6 year old sphynx with an upper respitory infection. I bring the adopted new kitty back to apl in cleveland and am told to come back tomorrow between 11 and 4, as the vet staff is not there on Sundays, and because he's under 30 days since adoption is don need an appointment. I was told by staff the vet dept comes in at 9am til 4pm, but they prefer to start seeing patients at 11am and after.... literally told this by staff. So I come back the next day, 12:26pm.... go to the vet staff and am told I need an appointment, i inform them of what I was told the day before. They apologized for the "misinformation" I was given. I explain how sick my sphynx has gotten from the kitty I adopted for my daughter and he is with me. I ask can I just get his antibiotics..... they tell me they can fit me in at 4:15pm. I am fully disabled by the federal govt and I explain this to them. I am asked to take a seat or stand whatever is more comfortable for my disabilities.... I sit on the bench with a kitten who can barely breath. I then watch a door dasher enter with bags of mcdonalds, 5 minutes later I am told the drs will see the kitten and me after their lunch......yes this is a true dn story, and what service was provided. I sat for a half hour longer until lunch was eaten and they looked at the kitty, i tried to give them the vet bill from my sphynx, they wanted nothing to do with it. They gave me 10 days of antibiotics and I was informed also now that the kitty had a polyp in his throat that was surgically removed. This was not informed to me during his adoption. He is home now and on his antibiotics same as my sphynx. Please be aware as we believe the animals are their top priority, and u would think kindness.... but after what I experienced and my daughter with this adoption.......
Read moreI adopted a nice little dog from here back in 2006. I didn't need much help from customer service and the dog worked out well for my family. A few months ago, I visited with my four year old son and two friends - I wanted to make sure I had enough hands on deck to help with my son and help me decide on a dog. There were only pit bulls available and I have no experience with pit bulls, and don't particularly want one for many reasons. I was open to discussing an individual dog if the staff knew its background but as soon as I said "I'd rather not have a pit bull" I was lectured on being prejudiced and basically shut out of any help. I asked to see a retriever mix and was told that because he growled if someone touched his food, I would not be able to adopt him because of my son. I explained that I had a large house, a yard, and would be feeding him alone and was told "No, I'm sorry, we can't adopt him to you." I asked about any suggestions given my adoption profile and they said "Just go see what we have and bring a card if you like a dog." It was a frustrating experience to say the least. I went during a quiet time of day so I would be able to speak with a staff member at length and really check out the dogs and it didn't seem to matter. But I went today to look at the dogs (still haven't found a fit) and the young woman at the desk was very sweet and even suggested a dog for me. So, its hit or miss there. I have heard the customer service is really poor and I have had bad experiences, but it's worth checking out the animals because it is a very clean facility and I think that the staff really do care about the animals even if they can be unhelpful, or even aggressive,...
