My friends and I went here a couple of days ago for our Prom night dinner and had quite a bad experience. The real letdown of this experience overall was the service. We got seated very quickly due to having made a reservation two months prior but everything was downhill from there. It took 30 minutes after being seated to be even greeted by our server. By the time he greeted us, we were all ready to place our orders but instead, our server focused on clearing the two extra menus from our table (two of the people who were supposed to join us fell ill the day of) which took another 15 minutes. We placed our orders with two of the six of us there ordering appetiser sized portions while requesting that they come out at the same time as the rest of our group's food, to which they did not honor that request and the two received their food much earlier than the rest of us. After waiting an hour just after ordering our food we asked our server for the checks three separate times it took him 10 minutes after the third attempt to bring back all our checks and another 20 just to pick them up from the table, run them, and bring them back. At this point we were still waiting for our main courses, our two party members who received their food had already finished and our server rarely checked on us, we didn’t even get complementary bread or anything as we saw on the rest of the tables. After waiting two and a half hours after putting in our food order we finally received it (we got lobster bisque, three pasta orders, and a salmon fillet), however, the new server running our food to us also did not listen as she somehow managed to give every single person at the table the wrong dish despite us saying no when her asking if someone had one dish (ex: my boyfriend ordered the carbonara and the server came over with an order of bolognese asked if it was his, and when he said no set it down in front of him anyway). By this point, we had missed our entire senior year prom waiting on our food and we had just asked to get it boxed up so we could leave and at least try to catch our friends on their way out of the dance, but of course like the service all night it took FOREVER to get our food boxed. When the woman server dropped off our food in the first place we all immediately asked for boxes and instead of explaining that she’d take our dishes one by one to the back and box them up for us (which would have been fine) she just left and took 15 minutes to get our original server who then took each of our plates back one at a time. For spending over $100 per pair we were all very disappointed with our experience and expected much more, especially for the price. I 100% regret choosing Dante’s for our prom dinner and suggesting the location to my friends originally. Because of the poor service, we all missed one of the final events we had to get to spend with our classmates and the letdown of dinner and missing the dance just overall ruined our night. The food is definitely not worth it for the price or the wait. Please listen to what happened to my group and only come to dine here if you have a spare afternoon. I only hope that our server will enjoy the 20% tip on all four $100+ checks he got from all of us from before we knew just how horrible the...
Read moreI dined at Dante in Tremont this evening, a restaurant that positions itself as an upscale establishment with a chef-inspired menu. The menu apparently changes periodically, which was evident as the couple I was dining with noted it was different from their previous visit. The offerings include a variety of seafood and land options like duck, lamb, and steak, reflecting a sophisticated approach to dining.
Our party opted for a three-course meal—an appetizer, a shareable, and a main. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t meet the high expectations set by the restaurant’s reputation and price point.
Starting with the service, I found it disappointing. Our server seemed disinterested and lacked familiarity with the menu. When reviewing the options with us, they jumped around in a disorganized manner, never mentioning any specials or highlighting signature dishes. At an upscale restaurant, I expect the staff to guide diners confidently through the menu and showcase the chef’s standout offerings.
The pacing of the meal was another issue. We spent nearly three hours at the restaurant, which felt excessive for a standard three-course meal. We placed our entire order at once, yet there was a 45-minute wait between courses. By the time the main courses arrived, one person in my party even mentioned the seating had become uncomfortable after so long.
As for the food, it was underwhelming, especially given the price. One of my dining companions had the bolognese, which had solid flavor but was overshadowed by the extensive wait. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye, requesting it medium, but it arrived closer to well-done. While I understand a preference for medium-rare steaks in many establishments, a restaurant of this caliber should be able to deliver the requested temperature with accuracy. Additionally, the steak, despite the enticing aroma of the grill permeating the restaurant, lacked flavor and was overall just average.
In the end, for the cost and the upscale presentation Dante aims to provide, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. With lackluster service and just-okay food, I can’t say I’ll be returning. Taste may vary, but for me, this visit was...
Read moreThis is my first review ever, I did not want to write a review but I thought I wish someone had warned me about the place. My partner and I went there because it was her birthday and we want to do something special. A friend recommend the place, and we went there. They had not tried it, just based on Google reviews. The service was good, the waiter was nice and polite. We ordered crispy calamri and shrimp which smelled awful ( I had calamari I know it smells different than roses, but this one was awful) and it was everything but crispy. The food was surf and turf and pasta bolognese. The ingerdients were fine, I give them that. But whoever prepared the food has no idea how food should taste. Somebody could have just dumped the ingeredient into water/grill whatever and hoped for the best. Absolutely no seasoning, we asked the waiter for salt, and peper just to be able to eat it. The decoration was fine, at least, apparently the "chef" had a cheat sheet that how they supposed to look like, but since the cheat sheet does not have taste or smell, well... The bolognese was one step below the Walmart TV dinners. Again, the "chef" managed to take ANY taste out of the combination of pork, beef, and red sauce. The atmosphere was not so good, very crowded and a group of people partying there, apparently, without anybody telling them the establishment is not a McDonnald playground. The only nice part of our diner was the desert, chocolate pistachio tart, and tropical mousse entrement. I suggest anyone who want to go there to buy a hotdog from gas station, sit in your car, play a nice music, and if you want to go there still, go for the desert. At least gas station hot dog has taste, not so good, but as least it HAS...
