I can't believe that I waited this long to visit Tony's Southside- I wish I would have discovered this gem sooner! It would have easily been a regular spot for me. This family-owned spot has fresh, made-from-scratch food on the weekends (Friday/Saturday only), which you should definitely call ahead of time for reservations. Unassuming from the outside, Tony's has a very beautiful, all-around wood interior and beautiful decor. Elenny, who is the owner with her husband Tony, was a gracious host and did a great job of explaining everything about the restaurant to the food items (the staff was great, too). Importantly, the food is perfect! I couldn't believe that it's just Tony in the kitchen taking care of everything. The appetizers (spicy pork balls), the salad (generously sized- shared a bambino with few other friends), the piccolo pies (I had the Nero- I could have had 2 for myself because it was so delicious), the sweet potato pie that was pleasantly available last night- everything was perfect to the taste. I highly recommend this spot for any occasion. Thank you again,...
Read moreInterior was so dark, we asked to be seated outside. Limited menu. Arrived at 7 pm but did not receive main course in a reasonable amount of time. Salads never served until after main course. Asked waiter for more cheese and was told in a reluctant manner that he would, "see what I can do". Never did get more cheese. Lasagna served luke warm. We paid $10 for bread that was just their small serving of pizza dough with olive oil and seasonings floating on top. Unbelievable! Dishes lacked creativity to warrant costs. When the chef came to ask how our meals were, he was already in a confrontational mode. When my complaint was expressed, he became more belligerent and told me that I did not know what I was talking about. His Napoleon complex became more apparent in his attempt to intimidate me, but I was unimpressed and totally shocked by such bombastic behavior. Luckily, his wife called him off before the scene became even more ugly. My dinner companions and I have NEVER experienced anything like this and will tell everyone we know to NEVER go to this...
Read moreone of the places I miss since moving away from cleveland. yes the food is expensive, it’s cash only, open 2 nights a week, but I still really loved this place. these all just add to the charm. hidden little spot where you’re transported into another era once you come in. it’s slow paced, quant, you’re part of the family. yes eleni’s sister will go on and on about how everything is handmade from scratch- it’s sweet and I feel like I’m in grandmas kitchen. but with the added gypsy bohemian vibe. You don’t come here for the food or to get great value, though I’ve never been disappointed by the food and do enjoy the pizzas. if you come hungry, your bill will be substantial. but it’s the perfect setting to have memorable nights with great friends away...
