Village Bake Shop — Restaurant in Cleveland

Never again!!! What I ordered was NOT what I got. They seem to be sweet people but just did not produce what they promised they could. We were very disappointed in the results of our order. They refused a refund after leaving us in the lurch for our Lumberjack themed baby shower.

The pictures speak for themselves. I ordered the cake and cookies below for my son and daughter-in-law's Lumberjack themed baby shower. I spoke with Theresa who assured me that she could absolutely do these designs except that she could not make the moose. She said that I would need to provide a cake topper; which I did.

The day before the shower, my son picked up my order and paid for them with his debit card. I was to reimburse him that evening. He did not know what was ordered. He was just there to pick it up and pay for it.

I took one look at the cake and cookies and was in absolute shock! The cookies were a mess and did not look like they came from a professional bakery. The cake was an even bigger disappointment.

The bottom of the cake was supposed to look like wood but it looked as if I had iced the cake with white icing. The message on the front was the wrong saying and off-centered. It was supposed to say "from tiny seeds grow mighty trees." But it read"from tiny seeds you will move mountains." which was not only incorrect; it absolutely made no sense.

The banner on the top layer was tiny compared to what I ordered. The baby's name was not easily legible and the last letter of the name was barely on the banner.

I called and spoke with Theresa and she said that there was nothing she could do about it. She was out of town and there was no one at their establishment that was capable of correcting the error. She went on to basically say that I needed to get over it and just enjoy the shower. She said that she would "make this up to me."

Left in the lurch by Village Bakery and at great expense, we scramble around and found another place to do an overnight rush order, to fix this cake and cookie disaster.

You would think with this inconvenience that this establishment would be helpful and at least reimburse our charges but no. We were told, "We have been here 57 years and we have never given refunds." They did offer to provide us with a partial credit for cookies or cupcakes -- 2 days after the shower. The first 2 pictures are what I got from village Bake Shop. I am very disappointed with this bakery! My family has patronized this place since I was a little girl,with that being said my son and now daughter n law placed a order for wedding cake and cupcakes 2weeks prior to their wedding mind you and also paid for them already,the pickup was the day of the wedding at 9am that morning when they arrived the girl acted like she didn't know of the order so they showed a receipt and she said she would call manager to come in and help because nothing had been started,the wedding was at 3pm several trips was made and still not finished the girl working seemed rude and of course no one showed up to help.Another family member had to make the last min.trip to get these,this was very inconvenient for the crowd and we will never use them again nor will we recommend this place because this was a very special event and the owner didn't even show up to help this girl and she was the only one there working..shame and embarrassment to us because we spoke highly of this place and was totally let down,let me also add that the girl tried to have my daughter n law change her design because of their mistake of running behind and the cake was suppose to be mint green and it was teal.Never did they offer to make it up to them because if this place it was a totally rush and panic right before...

I used this bakery for my wedding and am extremely disappointed. I trusted them to do a very basic wedding cake with a simple color touch of color, petit fours, and doughnuts because they had so much confidence when I spoke with them multiple times. The day before the wedding when we went to pick up the petit fours, the color of the petit fours and the doughnuts were wrong, the design on the petit fours and doughnuts were wrong and so we didn't even trust them to do the design for the wedding cake so we told them to do just plain white with no dots or anything on it because being the day before my wedding, I didn't have time to find a new bakery. And of course when we got the cake, there were of course dots around the layers like we specifically asked for their to not be. We served it because we had no other options and they barely gave an apology saying and wouldn't refund for the whole thing because "it was edible" and they only do in store credit as if I would want to use them again. This was a horrible experience and I will forever turn my friends, family, and clients away from this bakery because of how they messed up my WEDDING. I would have been better off to have cancelled the order and not had a wedding cake...
