Went in the morning for the first time--employee behind the counter was so nice and patient as we took a minute to review their options. The almond cream cheese croissant and the green chili pinwheel were AMAZING. Would easily get again every time.
We next visited in an afternoon, and a different employee helped us--she seemed annoyed we took a minute to pick things out/ask a couple of questions (no other customers were in the store.) The employees in the back also seemed annoyed when she asked them questions. It all felt weird, lol. Even the loudly stated "hope you have a wonderful day" or whatever the phrase was as we left felt sarcastic and odd but maybe we were reading into it? We'd included one of their chocolate chip cookies--which looked big and full of chocolate chips in the counter window--and went to the register as the employee gathered everything. When we arrived home, we opened the box to the oddest looking cookie. It was thicker than the display, smaller, with like two chocolate chunks on it. We both tried it, and it was totally stale and flavorless, so we ended up tossing it.
All in all, which employee you get will make some difference in your experience as well as perhaps the goods that are picked out for you. I would double check what you got before you leave the area to be safe (specifically when it's a pre-wrapped desert and not a pastry from the plate), otherwise it could be a waste of money. But besides a weird experience during our second visit, that first visit was awesome, as...
Read moreKennaBelle did an AMAZING job for both my wedding cake and the cupcakes for the guests. I needed to have the cake gluten free due to sensitivities I have. I have tried A LOT of gluten free products over the years and you could NOT tell it was gluten free. It was absolutely delicious...even my husband really enjoyed it! It was absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I asked for/pictured. Due to a delivery issue (nothing to do with KennaBelle), the decor for the cake didn't get delivered to her. So unfortunately she had to pivot at the last moment and went WAY above and beyond to make sure she obtained decorations that would make the cake look exactly like what I had requested. I actually think it turned out even better than what I had ordered! :) With the stress of the wedding, she has no idea just how grateful I was that she took the task of finding cake decor so I could focus on the wedding itself. I didn't get to try the cupcakes, but I was told by many that they were delicious! I don't have more photos because I haven't gotten my wedding photos back yet, but this is a photo of the cake a friend took. I am incredibly grateful to Kenna and all of the staff that helped make our wedding day so incredibly memorable!! I would recommend KennaBelles Kreations Bakery ANY day and for every...
Read moreWe breezed in about a half-hour before closing on an extremely busy day, so we were unsurprised that little selection remained. We opted to split a lime cupcake and had it bagged to eat after some further venturing about downtown Cloudcroft. It's important to note this circumstance, because I would have gone back and eaten/reviewed half the pastries in the shop or more had Kenabelle's still been open when I finished the cupcake.
I like frosting, especially cream cheese frosting. I generally like it better than the cakes it's generally served on. This is the first and only time I have encountered a frosting/cake ratio that had me questioning whether there was too much frosting, but that's only because the cake was so completely amazing. The cake portion of the cupcake was an amazingly light and fluffy sponge that exploded with lime flavor and sweetness. The mountain of frosting was, in contrast, only lightly accented with lime, and richly decadent in its semi-sweet cream cheesiness. The whole creation was topped with a not-quite-candied lime slice which added the perfect, bright punch to the decadent frosting.
We will be back to try more of Kennabelle's Kreations, even though it's a 4-plus hour drive...
