All I can say is wow! I’ve been following Miguel’s on Instagram and decided to check it out! I’m glad I did. They are currently located inside the Peacock Market as soon as you walk in. Their set up is highly organized.
Greeted by Miguel, he was super friendly and welcoming. He gave me insight on his food as I haven’t been able to find what I’m looking for after leaving LA. First, he immediately offered me a sample of salsas so that I could make an informed decision about the tacos to get. You can tell he is an artist-proud of his food. I also sampled the asada which was super tender.
My mother had the two chicken taco plate. She loved the fact that the chicken was moist and actually had flavor. She LOVED his beans. She is super picky but said his beans were the best she’s had in years coupled with “non-dry” shredded chicken.
I let Miguel make my tacos. I showed him some IG pictures on his page that I was curious about. What I was looking at is the “Gordita de Jalisco”. I gave him the green light to choose my tacos and make them how he eats them. My goodness was the Gordita packed with flavor!!! The asada was very good as well as the shredded beef. Everything was super flavorful, not greasy, and moist. But let me tell you … that Gordita is my go to from now on!
The rice was moist and flavorful. Different than most restaurants which sets them apart. The green chile tamales were delicious. They are actually my favorite tamale. Miguel and his wife aren’t skimpy with the filling either.
I purchase some of his mother’s “Sunset Salsa” which has a spicy level of medium. Yummy!
Everything was devious and I will be back. I am dying of to try his chilaquiles and huevos rancheros.
Seriously … stop by. You won’t be...
Read moreA hidden gem indeed!! I have lived in Clovis for a long time. I'm sure there's still more places that need to be discovered. Check anything off the list but I will be back. Now you may see that I might know my Mexican food but you don't know that I am married to a Beautiful Mexican Woman who knows her Mexican food also. She loved the food here. She said that this food tasted like it came from someone's kitchen. The aroma when we first walked in already sold us. We ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo, eggs, papas, and beans. It was so good. We ordered a beef tamales and it was topped with more goodness (see pics). We ordered asada tacos and they were fantastic. The last thing that we ordered was called a Dorados which was a fried taco and the shell was something that I've never had, it definitely tasted homemade. I can't believe this place was in Clovis. It's a must try. I...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about my recent visit. On the plus side, the food tasted like home-cooked meals—fresh and served hot, which I really appreciated. However, the overall experience felt a bit off. We didn’t feel very welcomed, which was disappointing since I’ve met the owners at their food truck before and had a much more positive interaction then.
There was also a small issue with my order. The cook got my meal wrong, and I politely let him know. He seemed visibly annoyed, which made me a bit uncomfortable. What really surprised me, though, was that he threw the incorrect item in the trash and then retrieved my container from it to reuse—thankfully the burrito was still wrapped in foil, so I didn’t make a big deal out of it, but doing that in front of customers wasn’t the best look.
I’m hoping this was just an off day, Fingers crossed for a better...
