DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!! A group of my friends and I came here for brunch. I ordered the carnitas with a margarita. Although the margarita was good, unfortunately the atmosphere of the restaurant, the staff, and the bill was not up to par. We waited a long time for our food orders to be taken. This place is extremely overpriced. Drinks are ridiculous, and the portions should be larger if I'm paying $17 a plate. My friend got a taco salad, they messed her order up twice. Usually this would not bother me as they gladly offered to fix it, but at this point the rest of us were done with our food, and she was unable to enjoy. Now it is clear to me why this place was basically empty during lunch time on a weekend.
We were a table of 5. For a table of 6 or more, they charge an automatic gratituity fee. I wouldn't have mind paying it, if our service was better and my friend's food was not messed up. The gratituity added $45 to our meal. I asked if we could please take off the automatic gratituity so we can leave our own tips. We were then informed that our server went on break. She did not tell us that she would be leaving, and we were not introduced to a new waiter. Upon asking for the tax reversal, we were informed that this waiter could not get into the computer because only a manager could do it. In restaurant business, a manager should be present at all times. In this restaurant, apparently those rules do not apply. It is unfair to run a business with a lead not present, leaving everything up to the waiters.
When no managers were present, one of the waiters suggested that he called the owners to try to clear up the issue. It was really sad to see him, obviously flustered overwhelmed AFTER the phone call. He came back to the table and let me know that there was nothing that could be done and the rules were repeated to him once more.
No one should ever treat their staff like this. This young man was working hard to resolve an issue, and although the issue could not be solved, I left with a different kind of issue. It was very unsettling to me that the owners of this place would speak to their staff in that manner, and that they refused to work with new customers.
Please, find somewhere else to eat. There are plenty of delicious places to get Mexican food locally. If you like people that mistreat staff, rob you of your money, and serve mediocre food, then this this the place for you. Do not support their business.
May I suggest, El Patio Mexican restaurant in Tower District. It's delicious, and beautiful (with kind owners).

Read moreVisiting my friend in Cali from Ohio for the first time ever and was pretty dang excited to eat here this evening! She had heard really good things and wanted to try it too but unfortunately things did not go as planned. :( Placed a order (They said it would be 45 mins. Ok cool!) and her husband went to pick it up for us all but when he got there the food wasnât ready. Ok! No big deal,So he waited and waited and waited some more. One and a half hours later my friend decided to call the store to ask them how much longer our food would be. The man who answered the phone couldnât tell her. She explained her husband has waited almost two hours over the original time stated and she only wanted to know so she could let him know. The man on the phone literally told her he didnât know how long it would be. So she asked to speak to the manager. Thatâs when this guy said he was the manager. So she asked to speak to anyone above him so that we could figure out how much longer her husband would need to wait. He said he was as high as it goes. He also decided to tell her âWe are busy so I donât know what you want me to do about it. â
Hereâs the deal. We understand your busy sir. Thatâs why her husband made the super kind decision to wait patiently in his car for a hour and a half without saying anything to anyone. We get your busy. We understand your busy. We are ok with you being being.
What we arenât ok with is not being told how much longer the wait is going to be. Iâm not sure how you guys operate in California but in Ohio no one is going to wait 2 hours for their food in the parking lot without knowing how much longer itâs going to take.
The man on the phone raised his voice to my friend. Pretty much embarrassed her in front of me and honestly just completely disrespected her and made us all feel like they could care less if we waited for the food or not. So...... needless to say we didnât get to try the food.
Really bad first impression for me. I know when I visit again I wonât be trying this place. Hope this man learns to control his temper and gains more respect for the customers trying to support...
Read moreMy wife and I were in Old Town Clovis and decided to find a place to have lunch. We parked in one of the public parking lots and just happened to be right next to Salsa's Cantina. Having never been there before we decided to try it out. It was a warm afternoon with temps in the upper 80's and the first thing we noticed upon entering was they had the AC on and it was comfortable inside. This may seem trivial to some but many eateries try to run their AC units a little as possible because -- HIGH UTILITY BILLS. I understand, but at the same time if I walk into a place to eat on a hot Fresno day I will turn around and walk right out if its not a comfortable temperature inside.
This place is spacious and the tables are spread well apart. The tables all have glass tops and underneath the glass tabletops are the menus. This is pretty cool. You dont have to wait for a menu to be brought to the table and its just one less thing to handle during this pandemic.
We were promptly seated and attended to with cold drinks: ice tea for the wife and a house margarita and water for me --- along with chips & salsa. They really nailed the presentation on the margarita with the dripping lime salt [see images] but taste wise it wasn't the best. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but for $9 bucks it could be better. The chips were great; the salsa was just OK.
My wife ordered the Baja Tacos, requesting one prawn taco and one mahi mahi taco, and I ordered the Relleno De Mango, a large poblano chili stuffed with grilled chicken and topped with cheese and mango salsa. These main courses DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Some of the best Mexican food I've had in the 33 years I've lived in Fresno. Likewise, my wife was thoroughly pleased. [see images]. The handmade flour tortillas were bomb.
The bill for the two meals with an iced tea and margarita came to around $44.00. We definitely plan on visiting again in the future.
p.s. The waitress who served us was very attentive and did an...
