My husband & I enjoy a well-prepared Kiwi Quencher at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Yet the quality of the Smoothies are inconsistent. We always order Kiwi Quenchers with additional add-ins. This includes two scoops of whey protein, three scoops of strawberries, & pomegranate. Since we add extra add-ins, there is always considerable Smoothie overflow, which we ask for.
Our most recent experience at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Coldwater, Michigan on July 7, 2021 was the very worst. We were the only customers in the store during the entire time we were there. After placing our order, we requested the Smoothie overflow. As two employees prepared our Smoothies, we stood at the counter and repeated our request for the overflow several times. The employees who prepared our Smoothies acknowledged our request. After completing our Smoothies, a female employee dumped one container of overflow in the sink. We said, “Stop! We want that!” She replied, “Oh, sorry.” Then a male employee began dumping the second container of overflow into the sink. We said, “Please stop! We want the overflow!”
In our presence, the male employee said to the store manager, “Why are we giving away the overflow? We have never done this before.” To her credit, the manager responded, “They purchased multiple add-ins. They paid for it, they should get it.” My husband, granddaughter and I felt uncomfortable having the employees disregard our request and challenge our right to all we purchased.
Finally, we received our Smoothies plus the overthrow. Unfortunately, our Smoothies were so poorly prepared they were undrinkable. We ordered two Kiwi Quencher Smoothies with three scoops of strawberries, two scoops of protein plus pomegranate. What we received was very, poor quality and completely tasteless. Customer Service Is Poor: I went last night and it was just teenagers goofing around and using foul language which is ridiculous. They spent more time talking to their friends in the store (they weren't even customers) than us who were ordering. If they're not goofing around, they're on their phones or just slowly walking around not doing much of anything even when the store is packed. Me and my friend were the only ones in the store that was ordering. The smoothies arrived quickly, but the food took about 30 minutes. It was only two three cheese chicken quesadillas. I'm not sure what they were doing, but they weren't making orders.
Smoothie/Food Quality: As stated in other reviews, the smoothies are inconsistent. It's either really good, or it's barely passable as flavored water. The food. Not even sure where to start with this one. The time before this, they left the chicken out of the order when that's the main ingredient. This time, they handed us the food and it was still cold like it just came out of the fridge. They had to have noticed this when putting them into the boxes since no cheese was melted and she grabbed the food with her bare hand. I also watched the employee wipe off the counter with her hand and place the food directly on the counter instead of on the paper wrap or in the box like usual. The sauce was also left out of the meals.
I ended up just getting a refund. After I returned the food there wasn't even an apology. I understand mistakes happen and people have off days, but they should at least act like they care about the customers and this shouldn't be happening every time I go there.

Read moreI decided to try your place today for lunch and one of your smoothies. I will have to say this might have been my only visit. I waited over 30 minutes for a wrap and a smoothie. I was surprised on my wait time as there were many workers that weren’t doing anything and only 2 other customers inside at the time. After I waited 20 minutes I asked for a manager or team lead and they told me her name was Macie. i asked if maybe she could come and help them as the wait was getting long. i was then told she was busy in the back. I feel your leaders need to be trained on teamwork and customer service. After all they are the ones who are supposed to be setting the example for others to follow. Overall observation for first visit was long wait, people just standing around, and poor customer service. I don’t know how a new business like this one will continue to be in business and be profitable with lack of service and have no leaders step up when you see that the workers need help.
