We came here a lot before the COVID-19 pandemic because they had the best burgers in town, no doubt. Their fries are also really good and have a nice crispiness to them. However, something changed after 2020 with their burgers, and I guess I get it, money got tight. The burgers may have been frozen or I don't know what. We stopped coming. But then we gave it another shot after over 2 years of nothing, and I am glad to report they have returned to the fresh burger patties from before! This is awful for my wallet but so good for my belly. I ordered the 1/2 pound burger with cheese and fries and it was the heavenly beef I once knew. My wife got the same and couldn't finish hers. My kids got the grilled cheese with fries, which drives me crazy because I could make that at home in less then 2 minutes and for WAY cheaper. But kids will be kids. We all got drinks (no beer) as well and it came out to around $55. The girls at the front weren't particularly friendly but the cooks in the back are always extremely helpful and polite. Any dumb questions I throw their way and they always answer promptly with a smile. Like, "Where is the ketchup?" To which I found out they have about 15 FULL containers right there near the cash registers. Whoops! This place also has pool tables in the back but we've never played here. We always sit outside when the weather is nice like it was last weekend. They have plenty of tables out there and the kids can run around and get some energy out. They have a speaker outside so you can still hear your order. This place is great and we will be back --- just waiting on...
Read moreUp front, let me be clear - I am a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. However, my Dad and older brother both graduated from Texas A&M. The Aggie culture was one I was brought up with - games, sweatshirts, aggie songs, etc. This past weekend, I joined my brother and nephew for the final Aggie home game of the season in College Station. My brother said there was a hamburger place he wanted to try, and we would stop on our way into town.
Our destination - Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill. It was a cool and rainy day, so (of course) there was a line to get into the joint. After all, this WAS game day. And who could forget that since everyone was outfitted in some type of Aggie attire? At first the line didn't move, but that gave me the opportunity to case the place, soaking in the variety of "folks" indulging on the comfort food that are the burgers and every fried side-item one could wish for.
Finally, getting to order, I placed mine for the usual. Bacon Cheeseburger, with cheddar cheese, lettuce, onions, jalapeños, and light mayo. After what seemed like a very long time (note - there is a sign posted that on game days, once you place your order, the wait time for your food could exceed 1 hour), my burger arrived.
The big reveal - there is none! Over cooked, and under flavored, with fatty rare bacon, the best part about the burger experience here were the fries! They were thin - crispy on the outside, and meaty inside. But, that's really more for a Fries Blog. I would have anticipated much more from a place that expected me to wait over 1 hour for my food on...
Read moreThis is a great place to eat or just chill and catch the game… Not sure I even need to post a review because it is so well-known… But I will tell you this… Be sure you were looking hard if you have never been here before… You’ll drive right past it and never even know.. (we have eaten here at least for five times and I have passed it at least three or four times) LOL
As far as your attire goes… Doesn’t matter if you want to wear a suit and tie or you want to come and shorts flip-flops and a tank top… You’ll fit right in..
Multiple TVs spread out through the facility (playing sports of course) with pool tables in the back…
Two different sections of outdoor seating… About 68° in a 10 mile an hour wind and you’ll be hooked on the patio life..
As far as our order… We got the chips and salsa, 2 “ famous original baskets” (added cheese and bacon) and two drinks… Walked out of there for about $32 for two people… Not too bad if I don’t say so myself..
As far as the queso goes… It’s a pretty dang big helping… For two people to finish it and their meal I would be surprised… My wife and I could only eat a little bit out of it and we use the rest of it to dip our fries in… (By the way… Their french fries are freaking awesome)..
Sorry I didn’t get more pictures… But I hope this helps somebody decide to go check this place out… It’s...
