Great brunch place! Flavors on point and great service.
Update (1yr later): While this is still one of our favorite places to eat as a treat to ourselves, the last few visits have been, unfortunately, less than ideal. I understand that when a place starts out with an already high bar in product and service, it's hard for it to consistently meet that bar. I just really hope this is not a lasting trend of mishaps. At least two of our previous visits, including the last one this last weekend over the Easter holiday, were such visits where not a lot seemed to be great. They were busy this last weekend, but our orders still took almost a half-hour to get out to us, after an already half-hour wait for seating on an outside patio table that was empty the entire time. My wife and I like our eggs differently, she likes them runny and I can't stomach an uncooked egg in the least. By the time our food was finally brought to table, her eggs were overcooked and mine were severely undercooked. The waiter did not wait to see if everything was ok before leaving the table. So, rather than wait however long til they returned I took my plate inside to ask someone to fix it. My wife tolerated her meal in silence. The first person I found promised to have the meal fixed and right back out to me. By the time my wife and daughter finished their meals, mine was back out and the eggs were cooked to my liking this time and the person that brought it back out waited to make sure. However, my side of grits that were also on the original plate, somehow got replaced by potatoes. I asked for the grits back but never got them. It was all a little aggravating and annoying, but for the most part the food and service here has a decent track record with us. We just hope these latest events are more just bad days than anything else. We'd hate to lose one of our favs in town. My overall recommendations still remain, definitely one of the better places to eat in town for brunch and usually very tasty and eclectic fair. Just make sure you stay on top of your order and meal and check...
Read moreThe kitchen has yet to master the eggs Benedict. For a time, the English muffins were almost burnt and so hard, even with the steak knife, I couldn't cut through them. To avoid the muffins, I ordered the eggs Benedict on hash browns. Over fried, the hash brown disks looked like hockey pucks and the hollandaise sauce was tasteless and thick. We go almost every week to Broken Egg, spend lots of money hosting our family, so I've been trying other items on the menu. The omelets are tasty but the eggs are usually overcooked around the edges. The Belgian waffle with scrambled eggs and bacon meal has been simple enough to be quite satisfying. But this past week, I decided to give eggs Benedict another try. It turned out to be easily the worst meal I've ever had. The English muffins were so under toasted, they dissolved into a wet mush on the plate. The eggs yolks were not poached but rock hard and the hollandaise sauce was a pale, paltry yellow with the consistency of instant mashed potatoes. I've never sent a meal back to the kitchen, but I should have this time. I ate most of this disgusting breakfast and regretted it the rest of the day. To top it off, the always enjoyable fruit salad had at least 5 sliced apples soaked in lemon juice that were so tart, I couldn't eat them. Stick with the berries and melon; nix the lemon soaked apples. My family's favorite meal is breakfast/brunch, and the service and ambiance of Another Broken Egg are primo, so maybe I'll just have a Bloody Mary when we brunch at the Broken Egg. Note to management: if the kitchen can't cook it correctly, take it off the menu...
Read moreOk, so it's kinda mixed bag here. The atmosphere was amazing, the drinks were good, the food looks divine, but the experience fell short during and after for the remainder of the day. We were immediately seated since there were only 2 of us and then asked to move our own chairs and table so they could fit a bigger party, which was random, but ok. Our server didnt really seemed enthusiastic in regards to engaging with us. Didnt really get a nice friendly vibe. It felt like we bothered her when we asked questions. I had the chicken fried steak Benedict and my wife had the Lucy omelette. My meal was delicious, but my wife's plate left something to be desired. Her omelette was very dry. Need either salsa or sour cream, which we had to ask for. We both had the spiked salted caramel cold brew, which was decent, but nothing spectacular. So the experience as a whole was a tiny bit below average, but we were excited to try again at some point, until about an hour later when we both felt not so well. I'm going to assume we both had succumbed to food poisoning. My wife's symptoms were milder then mine and she did try my chicken fried steak Benedict so I'm going to assume that's what it was. We didnt feel right for awhile throughout the day. Disappointed and my willingness to go back anytime soon has all but disappeared given the aftermath of the meal. It's definitely a cool place and we wanted to go back, but the experience has made us very cautious. Maybe it's just the hand we...
