First I’d like to say that this review by any means has nothing to do with the restaurant and what it provides. This review is toward one employee that’s works the bar. As consumer that visits all the locations of Mas Fajitas I believe I’m a generous tipper. Generous enough to where I feel an employee should never feel the need to keep any of my money after paying for the services. A I was with left a generous tip as we always do to every employee. The bar hostess decided to keep my money. I didn’t say anything that night because I figured maybe she wasn’t left a tip worth her time but after finding out what was left I went back the next day and politely asked if there was some kind of mistake that the employee decided to keep my money and if we did something that she felt was unreasonable. The bar hostess began to get loud and say money is no issue with her that she didn’t need my money and I could have it back. Not accusing in any way I said I wasn’t trying to be rude but just trying to understand the reason behind the issue. The bar hostess said that would be my first and last drink and that I need to get out after returning my money that she kept. I spoke to the manager who was reasonable giving the situation and said the tip that was left was more that reasonable for any worker to receive and to stay and enjoy my drinks. A week later me and my significant other went in to have a drink and the same bar hostess refused our service and told us to move to another section or leave that she was not serving us. I’ve always been fair to this same hostess and never been disrespectful in any way. I frequent the restaurant bar at least 2 to 3 times a week. I’m being refused service and now feel like I did something wrong for having my money kept from me and requesting it back. The manager on shift said that this same bar hostess had another problem with another customer the same day and she has stated repeatedly that she’s kicked a lot of people out from the bar previously. And it seems to be more of a who cares about the customer experience and more of I can kick you out if I want to kind of attitude. Coming from someone that frequently visits this restaurant to enjoy the atmosphere and experience I ask myself how is a hostess allowed to act in such a way and run customers off who's had his money stolen and asked for it’s return? Between the lines the bar hostess knew that I intended to have my money back and that my sibling was leaving a tip because she was right there talking to the both of us while all this...
Read moreEven though my first reaction was the very plain interior with a step above folding tables, we were impressed with the drinks, prices, and tastiness of the food.
We had the appetizer Pupusas that had a unique flavor that we are going back to have just that with drinks. For dinner we had Pollo Loco Shrimp which had an amazing flavor and Spicy Cowboy fajita. The fajita was not a huge portion but tasted good with the spicy flavors. It had sat in the skillet a little too long by the time it came to our table, so a little over done for my taste. For those that are doing low carb - they offer a side of grilled zucchini instead of rice and beans.
The House Margarita was good but needed more tequila and was just ok. The Top Shelf Margarita was much better, allowing you to have whichever tequila you choose. The Painkiller was amazingly refreshing and definitely worth a try. (I think they said a Pina Colada with tequilla-and I don't like Pina Coladas lol)
The service was just ok. We didn't get told about a last call, so when we went to order another drink we were told the bar was closed. (Even though they sat a table of 5 approx 5 min later) And another server/manager (?) discussed our servers new section while standing at our table. (He was asking us if we needed anything and was cut off in his conversation with us) Also at approx 810pm we had a 25 min wait, which we went to the bar to order drinks. Service was very slow, and by the time we got our drinks the table was ready. Bathrooms were not being attended to and were disorganized. (Sanitizing ???)
For service reasons plus the interior furniture and bathrooms, I almost gave it a 3 rating but the food quality, taste, and prices pushed it over. Overall definitely...
Read moreMy food was great but we did have some issues throughout our meal. My sister ordered the chimichanga w queso and a side of charro beans. The waitress recommended that the gravy with the queso is awesome so she agreed to get it but with the gravy on the side. Her meal came out with gravy smothered all over it and a side of refried beans. We really only saw our actual waitress when we ordered and when we were ready to pay. Other than that we had a couple other people check on us. Didn’t feel right bringing this stuff up to anyone but our waitress, but we couldn’t catch her. At the end of our meal, we waited a good 15 minutes for her to come back to ring us up, after she swung by and told us that she would be right back. When it was time to pay, I was a little thrown off by my total, being about $5 more than I pictured it being. She somewhat went through what I got, but only just to compare it to what my sister paid. Didn’t even offer an itemized receipt which I would have loved. I am not a fan of the electronic card reader things either. I want to know what I am paying for before I hand over my card so that I’m not wrongly charged. Also, I feel pressured to choose a preferred tip amount instead of customizing one because she is standing there holding the machine. Plus, I wasn’t sure who I was tipping. Was it the woman who took our order? The person that brought us our food? Or the guy who checked on us throughout the meal and brought us to go boxes when we asked? The fact that they were all different people really doesn’t...
