I'm not one for leaving reviews, but as long as you learn from them, that is what matters most. I had dinner with an old friend tonight. We had not seen each other in almost 3 years. We were celebrating my birthday. I purposefully ordered a bottle of champagne before my friend arrived. When it was time, our waitress / bartender opened the bottle very inappropriately. I understand that in the course of service, not many people know how to properly open a bottle of champagne. However, there is a video on Google somewhere. I did give her feedback a little later. I digress. There were a few bar flies trying to partake in our champagne as well, which was annoying. I feel like the negative part of this review is from the simple fact that we felt hurried to order. We were enjoying each other's company, having a good time, and had ordered a nice bottle of Veuve Brut and an appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were solid. For dinner, my friend had the duck and I had fried chicken and a side of Mac-N-Cheese. There was much confusion by the staff about the duck. I think my friend, myself, and all staff could've had an open discussion about the duck, but that is not why we visited. Long story short, she did not like the flavor of the sauce and just wanted pasta tossed in something flavorful and duck re-plated without the sauce. Even I tried the sauce and it was very intense that it made me cough quite a bit. Moving on from the 1/2 duck that was way too pricey for what it was. The fried chicken was delicious, tender and juicy on the inside and perfect crisp on the outside. The plating seemed wrong because they spread the potatoes so thin on the plate that they were barely warm when they got to the table. If that was gravy on the plate, I've never had worse cream gravy. The mac-n-cheese was excellent. I even got bread pudding to go...which was amazing as well. I will say that being in the industry as a sommelier, manager, and server (with almost 30 yrs of food service), that there was NEVER a discussion about whether or not everything was delicious and prepared well with a manager. The duck was missing maybe two bites, and I don't even think it was offered to be boxed up. However, it was left on the bill and not even discounted. Nothing was offered to me for my birthday. All in all, the entire visit of two hours just felt uncomfortable and lackluster. We just wanted a great experience for two people at $280.37. The worst part is that the receipt gave options of how to tip properly. This was almost as tacky as having to sign a handheld device (which they didn't do, thank God). So, negative review, of course. I might be back, but first impressions are usually the best ones. There is something to learn here, and it is MAKE SURE YOUR GUESTS LEAVE HAPPY.

So this is tricky. We went here for lunch today and all seemed well. The food is presented nicely but it was some of the blandest tasting things I’ve had in a bit. Aside from the bread pudding, that was phenomenal forgot to take a photo of it. But I can’t stress enough. The food is incredibly under-seasoned. It couldn’t help but think of what could be done better. It had the vibe of an old timey country diner food menu. Where everything is under 20 bucks and the seats are peeling a bit? If that was the price and atmosphere here I’d have been overjoyed for the food. But it’s not. This place is trying too hard to be something upscale. With prices that are jaw dropping in comparison to the flavor received (aside from the bread pudding, I can’t stress that enough. It was the best bread pudding I’ve had in a long while.) The ritzy almost casual steakhouse atmosphere doesn’t work with this menu, or with a cardboard cutout of I assume the chef or owner, watching you the moment you walk in. That took me a second to process. I understand taking pride in your business. The honor wall for decor was great along with the wine cellar wall next to it. Great ascetics. But I truly feel the vibe is off when we throw in a cardboard cutout. That was just odd. And the bar dog statue didn’t fit. Maybe I’m too picky here. Back to the other stuff. Our waiter was great and attentive. Answering questions about the food and menu to a fault. All was good except for the survey at the end. This is no fault to him as I’m sure he had to do it. But it felt so cheesy to ask us to file a survey card right there at the table. A QR code on the receipt, that feels more professional. I’m not going to feel like I need to file one there when I’m in the restaurant. That’s one of the most tacky things I’ve ever seen. All in all, if I want a truly incredible slice of bread pudding I’d go back for that. Nothing else. I’d truly get dinner or lunch or brunch food at a completely different restaurant, and order that bread pudding to go. Also, be weary of five star reviews here. Found their website, and it says, “leave a review and be entered to win 500 dollars.” Although that’s probably reviews on their site specifically, it makes me wonder how many people added a review on other platforms to boost their perceived chance of winning. Which as a giveaway, adds to the tackiness that was permeating the experience. I can’t see myself coming back here for the price point. I just can’t. It was not a worthwhile experience

I came here with two friends on Saturday evening for a 7pm reservation made a week in advance. I recommended this place to them to come try as I absolutely adored the location back when it was still in the gas station and would go there all the time. To say I was embarrassed for recommending, is an understatement.

My friend and her husband got there before me and went inside to check in. A blonde lady, presumably the manager or owner, was at the counter. When my friend approached and went to say we had a reservation for 3, she was cut off, the lady held her hand up and stated a server would be with us, not even letting my friend finish the statement. They were sat a few minutes later. I got there about 5 minutes after them. We should have left then, but we stuck it out because I begged them to. 45 minutes later, and we STILL hadn’t been served. We were sat, servers walking past, the original lady standing at the table across from us chatting with guest, and we hadn’t even been asked what we wanted to drink. It was 7:45 on a Saturday, finding a place with no wait would be next to impossible but we decided to start calling restaurants to see what wait times would be. The server to the table behind me finally came up and asked if we had been helped, in which we responded no. He said okay and to give him a moment and we went and approached the lady. We watched him tell her we hadn’t been served and asked if he could take the table. We weren’t in his section. She told him no. He went to another server and said something. Our server finally after another 5 minutes finally came over and asked if we had been served. Again, we said no. He said okay, and walked off AGAIN before returning, asking what we wanted to drink. My friend ordered an alcoholic beverage, and we made known she was allergic to citrus and pineapple so please don’t add garnishes or anything. He said okay and walked off. We were ready to order, but we just shrugged it off thinking he was going to come back with drinks and ask then. Another 10 minutes, still no drinks. When he finally came with the drinks, he asked us to order, in which we did. He went to walk away, and I asked if the drink prepared on the bar was my friends. He said oh! And went to grab it. The drink had an orange slice on it. We watched him walk over, talk to the bartender, take the orange off, then bring the drink to the table. I asked if that was the drink that had an orange slice on it because we had already told him she had an allergy and we watched him take it off. He got flustered and took it back to the bartender, where we watched her remake it and he brought it back over. We did have a quick turn over for our food however, it was brought out swiftly which we were pretty excited for. Another woman brought out our food, and she was absolutely wonderful. We ordered lobster bisque, lobster and bacon Mac and cheese, chicken and waffles, and the seafood Étouffée. To say we were utterly disappointed, and me shocked as I absolutely LOVED the food at the other location…I don’t even want to explain the food but outside of the bisque and waffles- not the chicken- it was horrid. We were just defeated at this point. The manager had walked past and greeted EVERY table but ours. We were joking around saying we felt like we were in an episode of Punkd. We asked for the check and told the guy we were going to pay in cash. He said okay and walked off. We sat there for another 15 minutes waiting for him to come pick up the check so we finally just collected our things to walk out. Our server finally ran over and asked if we wanted change, we said no, and left. We all three work in service, we get it. We understand a bad night, or feeling overwhelmed but it wasn’t busy at all. We left a tip even, and we never complained. We didn’t even ask for a discount for not being served for 45min. We seriously don’t understand the good reviews, and I wish I’d never had recommended this place so hard to my friends. We should have walked out sooner but just wanted to give the food the benefit...
