I would NOT RECOMMEND eating at this AI Sushi and Grill in Colorado Springs restaurant.
The service was terrible at the Hibachi table (food cooked in front of customers) because the chef served the bigger family (fatter/family of 4) double portions than the 1/2 portions to my skinnier family family of 5). The chef appeared to not know the orders, (even though he confirmed the orders before cooking) as he gave huge servings of steak and my 7 shrimp to the 4 year old sitting next to me. My plate looked pitiful with 3 scallops and 2 shrimp ($34). After the chef was done he looked at my plate and realized his mistake. Too late for rice and vegetables. He asked the waitress to get a few more shrimp. The scallops were under cooked and had to be recooked. When I finally got my shrimp, it was so salty from the amount of soy sauce and black/white pepper poured onto it that I used the rice to wipe off the shrimp. The fried rice was the worst I’ve ever had in my life, consisting of mostly soy sauce over white rice. I’m Asian so I know what fried rice is supposed to taste like. After 2 bites, I didn’t touch the 1/2 portion of rice again. The fried rice was all soy sauce with burnt eggs mixed into white rice. The 4 year old next to me had twice the portions than me. The vegetable were either undercooked or overcooked, meaning some veggies were too soft and while others were semi cooked like the onions because the chef was more interested in squirting Japanese rice wine into the fat man’s mouth several times (4) than stirring the vegetables to make sure it was cooked evenly. Being the last to be served the rice and veggies, he gave out smaller portions than what was left he served it to the fatter family. You know there’s something wrong when a 4 year old has a much fuller plate (plus she got my shrimp) than myself as a senior adult. The steak cost less than my scallops and shrimp. In fact all the fatter family got double portions, even their 4 year old. I ended up eating only scallops, shrimp, and vegetables.
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS RESTAURANT!!!
You will feel like you overpaid $34 for a plate of unedible fried rice, undercooked scallops, really salty shrimp. I know how I felt (disgusted) and I’m definitely telling all my friends and neighbors about the worst experience I have ever had at this Colorado Springs AI Sushi and Grill restaurant. The worst experience I’ve had of the many restaurants in Colorado Springs and Denver area lol Pop that I have dined at. I only gave 1 star when I really wanted to give this restaurant a negative stars, (-5)! Wish I had taken photos because then you could visualize what it felt like to have paid $34 for 3 scallops and 5 shrimp with a small portion...
Read moreWe will not return to this place after last night. Here's the issues we had last night.
The staff is not organized - We had 3 people come up and ask if we're ready to order. Two of them were after the first server took our order for tempura shrimp. About 5 minutes or so after giving our order to the first lady, she comes back and asks if we're ready to order a main course. We give her our order and she goes away. No more than 30 seconds later, server #2 comes out with a Teriyaki Chicken Platter and asks, "You have Teriyaki Platter?" I looked at her confused because indeed that's what I ordered, but I said, "Yes, but we just ordered it like 30 seconds ago and we haven't even had our tempura shrimp and my wife ordered something too." She smiled, said, "Oh ok" and started to put the plate down. I stopped her and said, "That can't be mine, someone else literally just took our order and again, we haven't had our appetizer yet." Server #1 came to our table with our Tempura Shrimp and told Server #2 that's not ours. They all seemed very confused. When I looked at the plate, I noticed a jacked up looking orange on it. Server #1 told Server #2 to take it back and find out who it belongs to because it's not ours. Server #2 goes away and I said to server #1, "I hope she doesn't bring that same plate back out to me in 10 or 15 minutes." Server #1 assured me they would make a fresh plate for me.
Approximately 10 minutes later, server #2 brought out two plates. One for my wife and guess what, seeming the same exact plate she brought out the first time. The same jacked up orange was on the plate and I'm sure they gave me the same exact plate that's been sitting for 10-15 minutes in the back. So I decided to take a picture of it and it's attached to this review. The chicken was barely warm and didn't taste very good at all. I ate what you see in the picture and asked for a box the next time I saw server #1. I still tipped server #1 $20 because that's just how I am (stupid), but I will never return to this place.
They need to get their staff together and form some type of order and their platter presentation needs to be reviewed. That orange was identifiable for sure and even if they brought me fresh chicken, they surely used the same orange. My gut instinct tells me they just kept the plate under a warmer until we were ready to be served, but I can't prove it of course.
Perhaps their Hibachi side of the place is better, but after this experience, I doubt I'll go...
Read moreI'm pretty annoyed to say the least. My family used to come to this restaurant over the last decade pretty often. We decided it had been a while and chose to come back since it's always been decent. Today was far less than decent. The restaurant wasn't that busy, a solid 15-20 tables were completely empty. We sat down, ordered drinks, then about 15-20 minutes they come back for a food order. Everyone ordered from the hibachi menus besides me, and one person ordered sushi with me as well. I ordered just sushi, same menu as the other people at the table. Everyones food arrived in insanely variable time frames, like the first persons meal came out and over the next 45 minutes to over an hour, the rest of the table was served. The other person even got their sushi roll. I waited over an hour for my food, and my family was nice enough to let me sample some of theirs to hold me over. Finally after the last hibachi arrived, they asked if there was anything else, I told them I was missing my rolls of sushi, the nice lady that brought our food out (not our waitress) said she never got an order of sushi to bring out. The waitress that took our order comes over and says "Yeah, so I never actually put in your sushi order, just the single roll that came with their meal. Do you even want it? It's going to be over an hour before you get it probably, and I can't cut the line" I let her know that was my only meal ordered, and it was completely missing. She let me know there was nothing she could do, and walked away with a pretty bad attitude. I understand holidays can be stressful, and staffing can be low. But in a not even remotely close to full restaurant where everyone around us was getting handled well, it's extremely frustrating. We had a party of 6, so it wasn't crazy big or anything. But all in all, I will not be returning to this establishment for a long time, if at all. I wasn't expecting a discount or the meals to be comped, but a simple "Yeah we can rush that out" or something would have made me less upset, I didn't eat anything all day to enjoy some sushi, and it made my 1 special day a year...
