Aspen American Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Night & Day. Live & Learn! I'm not sure how many stars to rate this place. We came here 2 days ago with a party of 8 for a lunch get together. Cory was out server and he was amazing - very attentive and helpful!. We all enjoyed our meals, the atmosphere was very nice and conducive to us having a good conversation. There were a few other diners there so it wasn't crowded and parking was good. We were greeted at the door by someone (probably a manager) telling us to be careful; the earlier snow had melted and there were a few icy spots. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go there for Valentine's Day. We made reservations for 5 PM so we could beat the crowd, which we did - there were less than a dozen cars in the lot when we arrived. When we entered we could see that most of the guests were in the bar area. We were seated in the dining area and noticed 1 or 2 other occupied tables. We were offered the Valentine's menu specials for Valentine's day, but told we could have the regular one if we wanted. We stayed with what we had thinking it probably had some specials. As it turned out, the only special was the up-price on their regular dishes!!🤬 As we sat and waited, a few other guests arrived. I noticed that they were seated and then quite quickly received their drinks. We still hadn't even been greeted! Long story short - our server was INCREDIBLY slow, other guests were arriving and eating and we were still just sitting and waiting and sitting and waiting!! Our bread was served - with frozen butter! Our server came by and offered to get us warm butter but again that took forever! Finally our food came - hot and delicious - but not served by our server, nor did she check to see if everything was correct. During the meal we accidentally spilled a glass of wine. Someone came by to clean it up and set the glass at the edge of the table. There was never any offer to replace it or even we wanted to order another. We ordered desserts but neither of us received what we'd ordered. Our server came by eventually and noticed that things were not correct and said she'd check on it. After another forever!!, she returned and said she'd comped one of the desserts - although both were wrong! So 10 to 0 in 2 days! I guess it's the roll of the dice! Good morning, before posting an online review I wanted to voice some concerns we have recently been having. We come 2 to 3 times a month and the past couple months things seem to be going downhill. We usually come on a Friday or Saturday night about 7pm. When we arrive there is never anyone at the door or host stand to greet us and seat us. It is usually a bartender with a neck tattoo that comes all the way around and seats us. We have been asking to sit on the patio but all the tables are usually dirty when we arrive. We usually ask for bread to start but recently it has been stale and old. We usually get the same server Everytime , a short Hispanic lady with a jacket of some sort on. She is a terrible server and we would prefer not to have her as a server anymore. One visit she took our order then disappeared until payment time. Someone else brought out our food out and no one did a two minute check back , no one brought refills , we ate and then sat there with our dirty plates for 20 mins after we were done, waiting for her to come around with a check. She misses things and is overall unattentive. I usually order the sirloin steak w fries and veggies and the food typically is so good it makes up for everything else. But the last few visits the food quality has decreased as well. The cut of steak I got last time was not smooth and flat on both sides it was like a heel or butt cut and looked like a shoe. Ordered MR it came out MW . And the fries were barely cooked, all mushy and squishy. Again no check back or refills . The past few visits we also noticed the cleanliness of the floors by the bathrooms and in the bathrooms was gross .

We have NEVER seen or been visited by a manager on duty , not sure there even ever is one . We hate to change our routine and start going somewhere else for date night but not sure we will be returning for a long time . If I was the owner I would want to know that my business is being mismanaged , especially...

Went here for Mother's Day and we were seated quite quickly even though I was asked if I made reservations. We had a great waitress and she was also was personable which was nice too. We ordered our food but they got my order wrong. I ordered a carbonara pasta dish, however when it came out it was a red sauced pasta. My mom insisted that they got it wrong and our waitress was very helpful in coming back with the right dish within 5 minutes. Even the manager or advisor came by to check that the dish was corrected. My mom had a chicken sandwich which she liked a lot. The food was well proportioned and filling. We had good time here especially after experiencing the original restaurant "Flat Iron" years ago, which wasn't a good experience at all. We will be coming back with the rest of the family for sure!

Went back finally for my birthday celebration. The service was great and our server Jacob I believe was super nice and just really good at being our server tbh. Me and my mom had pasta which was really good. The chicken was well cooked and was not dry and it was juicy. And had their brownie ice cream dessert that was good too. We were talking about how macaroni grill seems to be completely out of business now which is the restaurant alongside Aspen Grill. And if we had a comparable restaurant to macaroni grill, which used to be our favorite, it would be this restaurant. Top-tier food and top-tier service. I would say the food in the alcoholic beverages are on the pricer side but I think it's well worth it if it's a special event or if you're going out for lunch, etc. If I had a choice, I would love to see this restaurant Try to make a rosemary bread Instead of plain bread rolls.
