The only good thing about this hotel is the location and the views. Otherwise I have nothing good to say about it.
When we were checked in, we were given room 1215 and our initial thoughts were that the view was stunning (see attached) but the hotel was extremely dated. We put our bags down, and noticed the room was hot and stuffy. We lowered the temp and explored the city for a few hours. When we returned, the room was still hot. We took a shower, which had no water pressure and barely drizzled out of the shower head. We attempted to mess with the AC setting to get it going, but there was no change. We called the front desk to inform them about the issue, and they sent up a maintenance man immediately. I appreciate his prompt response, but he looked at the unit for maybe 30 seconds and said it was broken. Almost like he already knew it was broken.
I digress, he offered to switch us to another room and he helped us with our bags and transferred us to room 1119. He also gave us breakfast buffet vouchers for the following morning. The AC appeared to be working (could hear it kick on), and we attempted to go to sleep. My fiancée did not sleep at all and I woke up at 3AM gasping for air and sweating because I was so hot. I called the front desk and they offered to move us again or bring us a box fan. I am 8 months pregnant and this experience was causing me a lot of stress so I just opted for the fan, I didn’t want to move rooms again at 3AM.
My fiancée and I ended up never falling back asleep. I asked the front desk when the manager would be in so we could cancel our reservation and get a refund, since I rebooked at another hotel. I was originally told he would be in around 7-7:30AM, so we went downstairs to speak with him. The front desk then said he wouldn’t be in until 8, so we used our buffer vouchers to eat while we waited. In an unfortunate turn of events, I grabbed some bread from the breadbox to make toast, and the entire load was moldy. I brought it to the employee working the breakfast station and he was extremely embarrassed and apologetic.
We concluded breakfast and spoke with the front desk again about when the manager would be in, and they said 9. My fiancée and I were getting frustrated, so decided to get our car from valet to get a quick breakfast/coffee and hopefully come back to the manager being there. Instead, the valet no call/no showed and no one had access to the keys. At this point, I thought we were being pranked because everything that could go wrong-did. Other customers also tried to get their cars from valet because they had a flight to catch and another group had to attend a graduation early that morning.
We all felt like we were being held hostage.
The manager showed up and was immediately apologetic. He was briefed on our situation, and offered us a full refund on the stay and a refund on the valet services we prepaid for (4 days).
I wish I could give this hotel 0 stars, but I will give it 1 star solely because the staff appeared to make an effort to make the stay better. Unfortunately for the staff, the building is outdated and needs to be completely remodeled. There is only so much the staff can do to make up for the awful building.
Spoke with the staff at the on site Starbucks and asked if customers that stay at the hotel complain a lot or if they are generally unhappy. I wanted to gauge the general consensus from customers to see if we had an unusually bad experience. The staff said the hotel’s AC rarely works and they also were only given a box fan to help with the hot.
Grateful for the manager’s prompt and affected response when he did show up, but there’s no way I would ever...
Read moreI am unsure on what planet this hotel received good ratings. This is possibly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. In fact, I'm unfortunately still staying here, currently up in the middle of the night in a sweltering room because the air conditioner is broken. Apparently, many are broken and they are out of fans for the night. So I've decided to use this time to write this review. But this is just the tip of this unfortunate iceberg we've experienced with these folks.
Booking.com said the parking was free. We called to ask where to park, only to find out it was $17 a day. The parking garage is very sketchy and we had to call back 3 times and speak to 2 different people to get a straight answer where and how to park.
Upon arrival, it was obvious that this hotel is not well cared for. Aside from the lobby, every floor was dingy and in need of paint, a power wash, and/or a vacuum. The elevators are constantly down or just running very slowly. The signs are literally falling off the walls. Room service leftovers are left out in the halls for over 12 hours (we walked by the same stuff for 2 days).
The first room we were given had that awesome musty room smell, felt warm, and had multiple long, thick black hairs in the blankets, sheets, and towels, I assume from the cleaning crew. We asked to be assigned to a new room. We were assigned to a hypoallergenic room. It smelled much better, but there were still multiple hairs everywhere. They offered to come up and clean the room, but honestly we didn't want to risk more hairs being left behind, so we cleaned ourselves. We were also told our changed room was the exact layout as the original room, but in fact, the entire room was different ( different layout, no closet, shower vs tub, weird pocket doors for the bathroom, no additional chair, etc). It would have been a non-issue if we had just been correctly informed. Also these beds are narrower than an actual king. We have kept the do not disturb sign up so that no one comes in here to clean and leave more hairs.
We were told there were full vending machines on all the even floors. Every single one was empty, except floor 6 which had a lone diet Pepsi that was covered in old sticky soda and a mystery black powder. We checked every floor. For our trouble, we were given a free drink and app at the bar.
The shower drain was not attached and was a gaping hole in the sharp tile. They had to send someone up to apoxy the shower drain back on.
The WiFi is inconsistent and we keep being kicked off of it.
Also last night one of our parking tickets got demagnetized and the front desk clerk was extremely rude about it and ripped it up in a dramatic fashion. Most of the front desk clerks, though somewhat unhelpful, were at least very polite up until that point.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would not stay here again. I don't look forward to the rest of my stay.
I will edit to add that for our troubles, our parking was compensated and we were given $200 off of our stay. I hesitate to add this edit because maybe everyone will expect the same compensation. However, that loss of money could have been avoided, if whoever owns this building would stop caking off of its "history" and actually put some money into updating the place. It has so much potential, it's sad that the owner obviously doesn't care about...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for my sister’s wedding, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. If you value cleanliness, comfort, or basic respect for guests, look elsewhere.
Let’s start with the rooms: filthy. The carpet and floors were disgusting — so dirty that after walking barefoot for just a minute, the soles of my feet were almost black. The hotel is pet-friendly, which might seem great, but they clearly don’t maintain hygiene standards. There was dog urine in the elevators that wasn’t cleaned up promptly, dog hair everywhere, and an overwhelming feeling of grime.
Every room we were in — mine, my sister’s, our relatives’ — was miserably hot, with air conditioning that barely worked. If you’re from the South and used to heat, prepare to sweat indoors. On top of that, the walls are paper thin. You can hear everything from the neighboring rooms, which made sleeping nearly impossible.
And then there were the moths, and so many of them. It wasn’t just one or two. It was a constant problem across multiple rooms. Clearly a maintenance issue that no one is addressing.
But the worst part by far was what happened the morning of my sister’s wedding. We were under the impression we had reserved a small multipurpose room for a quiet yoga session to start the day. The room was modest — mirrors on one wall, windows on the other, and a few arcade machines and pool tables in the back.
Midway through our session, a janitor walked in and stood silently watching us for several minutes before being asked if he needed to get by. It felt uncomfortable and intrusive. But what happened next was inexcusable.
With about 15 minutes left in our yoga session, a man and his three sons entered the room and started playing arcade games right next to us. One even stepped over a girl lying on her mat to get to the pool table. It was an outrageous invasion of space.
Several of us politely explained that we thought the room was reserved and that we’d be done shortly. Instead of understanding, the man left and returned moments later — with a hotel security guard. Right in the middle of our meditation, the guard walked through our group and began loudly speaking into his walkie-talkie, dismissively announcing, “It’s just some women doing yoga. Anyone can be in here if they want.”
The man then loudly and aggressively confronted one of the women in our group, calling her a liar — all while grinning and bringing his sons back to play pool, again stepping over people’s bodies.
We had five minutes left. That’s all. But they couldn't wait, and the hotel staff made it clear we weren’t a priority. That security guard didn’t defuse the situation — he escalated it.
The entire experience was appalling — from the lack of cleanliness and poor facilities to the complete disregard for guest comfort and safety. I cannot stress this enough: do not stay here. There are better hotels that actually care about your experience. This place ruined what should have been a joyful and peaceful start to a very...
