They no longer have the locomotive displayed in the park and they do service the homeless crowd during certain times in the day( Which I think is great if you go in there to help or you're taking your children there to teach I'm certain lessons and life). I believed it's mostly meal services they do there for the homeless. It does not feel like a park like atmosphere period from my understanding they will be closing the park soon in order to make way for new construction. Read moreThe place is usually filled with homeless people sitting around, and women of the night walking waiting to be picked up, and the pimps and drug dealers parked around the parameter of the park. All that aside, it would be a nice place to sit and read a book. The Penrose main library is right across the street and the old historic train depot is across the other street.
