There are a lot of homeless, construction workers and this area is some what sketchy. Roads are full of potholes in the parking lot. When walking the trails there were homeless camps set up. So, if you are weary of those situations as a parent. Take that into account.
Good notes. There is beautiful scenery. The plaques put up are amazing and gave me new knowledge about our unsung heroes of America. The landscaping is pretty, as well as the variety of shrubs and trees.
Water system is turned off. Not sure why?
There is no restroom. But you can rent a covered patio area with seating for parties by reservations.
There is bike trails. And a pretty neat playground...

The huge art installment has water that flows around it, that visitors can walk and splash in. You can do private parties on the grass area or you can reserve the pavilion. Read moreCool little park with a pretty solid view. Kids enjoyed the playground. Wildflower garden is a nice touch. Some of the parking nearby (e.g. just south of Colorado Ave) seemed to be a slightly derelict and unavailable when we visited; luckily it was a chilly evening with rain threatening, so it wasn't that busy and we easily parked on Climino. But I can't comment on what parking is like if there's a busy event...
