Terrible service wish we could leave zero stars
First off the restaurant was not busy, we were seated immediately. Took our server Holly a few minutes to come over and get our drink orders. We ordered queso at that time as well. She brought our drinks and a bit later the queso. We were hungry so I admit about half our chips were already gone from eating some salsa. Then Holly vanished... she was still rushing around the dining room but the urgency seemed more like rushing past her tables to avoid serving them than actually delivering food or drinks or taking orders. Another server brought out our food we were out of chips by the time the food arrived. The other server didn’t ask if we needed anything else, which was fine we weren’t her table, but Holly never came back and no other server walked close enough for us to ask for anything without making a scene. Our drinks were empty within minutes of getting our food. We ate our food without drinks and then sat for at least 15 minutes and that’s just from the time I got annoyed and looked at my watch. Holly finally appeared and asked if we wanted dessert as she took our empty plates. By the time we could say no to dessert she was gone again. She grabbed our plates asked the question and was GONE. We were both looking at each other is shock when magically she was back with our bill. I’ll take that when your ready. Half of that sentence I’m assuming because it was said to us as she was again bolting in the opposite direction. We sat there with our CC on the bill completely visible for another 7 minutes. It crossed our minds MULTIPLE times to just pick up our card and walk out. We aren’t those types of people but suddenly I was justifying why it happens. We paid to walk away still hungry and vowing to never return. We have eaten here several times in the past and had good experiences. I really hope this isn’t anyone else’s experience but all of Hollys tables sat with empty glasses and looked irritated. For the price... go...
Read moreI have no clue how this place has so many 5 star reviews. To say the least, this place is terrible. Went there first time to this place with my son. We got told it would be a 30 minute wait. I didn’t mind as much due to the fact that it was a new restaurant. Luckily for us we got in about 5 minutes. For the chips and salsa they bring you , there kinda meh. Salsas to spicy for my taste and the chips where ok. I got a margarita flight to drink. The watermelon one was bad but the other ones I got where strawberry, pineapple and the original. These where not terrible. But they where not amazing.I went ahead and ordered the Boom Chica Boom Boom to find it extremely dry. The rice was to spicy for my personal taste. But I understand that people like that just like salsa. The beans are to mushy and have to much seasoning and my son said he had almost no seasoning. I asked how his steak burrito was and he agreed that his rice was dry. He had gotten his burrito smothered in queso and he told me the queso was nothing to right home about. He also said that the burrito lacked cheese and the steak had little seasoning. I came a 2nd time because my wife, daughter and mother in law wanted to try it. Again, we where told a 30-35 minute wait and we waited an hour. My mother in law has a bad hip and it’s not comfortable for her stand. This place lacks seating for people. There’s some but people where using it. Which I can’t really get mad at restaurant at because people will no longer offer there seats to a pregnant woman or elder person anymore. But still there there’s like 3 benches that hold maybe 4-6 people.Nevertheless we finally got to sit down and my wife and I got swirl margaritas which where meh as well. Finally got to eating are dinner to find the same issues as last time. Dry tortillas, dry rice, mushy and over seasoned beans. And the food just being over all bad. I strongly recommend that you avoid this place in general and go to Fuzzy’s taco shop. Heck Taco Bell is better...
Read moreLast weekend my husband and I met with family at this Chuy’s. My husband, my mother in law, and I ordered drinks, as well as an appetizer and food. We are very familiar with the menu here, as my husband’s family is from Austin, Texas, and frequented the original location for most of his life. We sat in the bar area for about an hour and a half and closed out our ticket with our amazing server, Stephen, as he was leaving for the day.
We waited for another family member to join us, at which point we ordered more drinks with a new server. Unbeknownst to us, however, Chuy’s has a “drink limit policy”. When we tried to order more drinks, the manager approached us and stated that they are a “family establishment” as two of the members in our party had reached their “drink limit” (3 drinks), despite the fact that was over the course of several hours and we were still ordering food and the like. We were asked to close our ticket and leave, although she said we were not being rowdy or inappropriate.
Three out of the four members in our party have worked in the restaurant business for years and we recognize the need for a cut off at a certain point. However, the way we were approached and spoken to by that specific manager was embarrassing and uncomfortable as the entire restaurant watched us walk out. As she said herself, she was not concerned about our behavior at all, but yet she brandished the words “family friendly” as though we had been inappropriate.
Chuy’s is a very special place to my husband and his family, but the lack of sensitivity and discretion showed to us here has tainted our experience. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this...
