Del Taco — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

As an employee of this deltaco, id like to address some common comments i see in reveiws -long wait time: yes. We are terribly understaffed. 14 people ment to run a 20 people store? Thats freakishly understaffed, and our regional wont allow us to hire more people because of labor cost. She got a bonus. Noone else did. -closing early: yes, our managers tell us to turn off the lights half an hour early, and close 5 minutes early. Normally, we have to close even sooner than that thanks to the lack of time we get to clean and the unreasonably high expectations for closers -messy dining and bathrooms: this is because we have one casheer on the front if any. Theyre expected to take amd cash out orders. Clean tables, clean bathrooms, bag orders, and stock the entire store (see unreasonably high expectations) and that all just one person. This isnt excusing the mess, its explaining why its like this. -lack of masks, gloves, and hair nets. Noone, not even our regional manager enforces this rule. Noone cares except me who regularly gets angry and hostile with coworkers for not taking care of customers complaints. -rude and uncaring casheers or casheers.who dont know what theyre doing: noone at any location is trained. You figure out the computer system by asking questions and getting yelled at. You learn to cook by getting scolded for doing it wrong. You learn to clean by having customers scold you for the mess. Noone teaches or explains, its all insults, regaurdless of what we try to do. The happy, nice workers are the ones teaching others. We dont get trained workers smoking or avoiding work: the managers know. They know and dont care and cant fire anyone because they cant hire anyone. So they get away with it for months before a write up. If theres anything i missed, ill post...

This was my first time trying Del Taco and it didn't go well at all. I went in the drive-thru and asked for the Epic Beyond Cali Burrito and the Beyond 8 Layer Burrito and a couple of other things on the menu (I was reading from a written list, so I could be sure I said the name correctly). I even repeated the Beyond 8 Layer Burrito to the person taking my order and he said yes when I asked if he got the beyond 8 layer burrito. Of course both of the Beyond burritos were wrong. I got just an 8 layer veggie burrito and I ended up with a Steak Cali burrito. I came back into the location to show them, since I wanted to make sure they could see that it's the wrong thing and the guy who took my order at the drive thru came up to the counter and said yes that's the steak cali burrito and the 8 layer burrito and I said I had asked for the Beyond for both...He doesn't apologize and doesn't seem to really care that the order is wrong. He finally takes the steak cali burrito from me and has a new Beyond Cali burrito made for me, but completely ignores the fact that I said there was no beyond meat in the 8 layer burrito. He also made me hand him back the steak burrito and throws it in the trash and doesn't even ask me if I might be able to give it to someone, like most restaurants usually do when they get the order wrong (I would have given it to my husband or even the homeless guy on the street outside). I'm seriously disappointed with this place. I'm sad this was my first experience...

Well... I can say that this Del Taco beats waiting in the Taco Bell across the street's long long long drive thru wait. However it doesn't quite beat going over to the Taco Bell down on Academy. We've mostly just gone to the drive thru at this location. While the drive thru's wait is less than it's competition across the street, that's not to say it's not a long wait in itself at times. Usually the staff members taking the order are nice, however not always accurate for taking the order. The older gentlemen who has delivered the order and taken payment at the window in the evening isn't unpleasant, but is very indifferent about interacting with people in general. As I said, the order accuracy needs work. The food... Well it's very mediocre mostly. It fills you, but the particular burrito I had tonight was very unappealing in presentation and was much like eating a can of pinto beans straight although I did see other ingredients. Half of my wife's order was omitted entirely, although to their credit they didn't charge us. So while they're not the worst, they're also by no stretch of the imagination the best. This location is the definition of middle of the road, a purgatory...
