Garden Cafe Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

I've gone to this place quite a few times over the past 15 years. It's a decent Chinese restaurant, but if you never go here you're not missing much. It's pretty comparable to most of the other Chinese restaurants in the Springs. The only thing I think this place does differently from other places is their wings. I've had them a few times and they are pretty good (the wings are large and taste pretty good for the price, especially compared to most other places that sell wings), although they've made them with varying levels of quality every time I have gotten them. The teriyaki chicken is pretty good too. It's not dry like other places.

They do give pretty generous portion sizes although I remember when the prices for a serving of food were around $1. The wontons aren't bad but all they do is put cream cheese in them. I've been to other restaurants and worked at one where the cream cheese is also combined with other stuff (crab, green onions, sugar, etc.) which tastes better. Wasn't a fan of the egg rolls either (I like mine with more meat), although they are pretty standard...

DISRESPECTFUL DISRESPECTFUL DISRESPECTFUL DISRESPECTFUL We spent 3 hours scraping Their hood, used much more green chemicals then we normally do, used a 4400psi power washer with a turbo spin nozzle on both fan and hood 2 times With clean-up. There were broken parts when we arrived so we were not allowed to move them to properly clean them due to insurance purpose. They were not using the proper equipment for an every 6mo cleaning, the fan did not have a lockout tag out just a plug. It’s very clear they are not sticking to the fire department regulations for cooking safely. Even after all that they yelled at us for not cleaning the broken parts and for not being there for 10 hours even though 10 hours was never agreed upon . They were told 450 for up to 4 hours due to the type of grease… all they did was discriminate against us and tried to refuse pay. Absolutely unprofessional!!!!!!!!! I am only taking a star off because the table we had to sit at was dirty and sticky, to me that is just a turn off. I will say it is a fast food Chinese place like Panda, but only better. They had some nice offerings, it was weird that they put chicken in the hot and sour soup, but other than that it was pretty tasty. I would have preferred it a bit more spicy, but that is my own preference. I had the rice and tried the rice noodles, they were good and so was the sesame chicken I ordered. It was a bit different than what I was expecting, but it was tasty. It was a little on the greasy side for me but again just another preference, I am used to more traditional fare so I tend to be really picky with my Asian food places. But we were starving and it was right there so we gave it a shot. The lady that helped us was very nice and it was refreshing to see the owner watching over the food preparations. If we are in the mood for cheap fast we will come here again it's way better than Panda that...
