Labor Day mid morning was our first visit to this Golden Corral location and this review is based on breakfast only. We were unaware that different locations had different selections and this particular location had fewer then we were used to. The Golden Corral we frequented in Texas on average of once per month was a comparable size to this one but has many more selections offered. Perhaps it is a corporate choice more then a owner choice but maybe a quick check before committing to the meal is in order if you are from out of state.
This location has two bacon bins but most of the time they were empty with a 5 minute wait being the norm. Towards the end of our breakfast they did manage to catch up but the bacon was undercooked at that point and we were already full. In Texas we had two bacon bins plus a fried bacon bin, none of which ever emptied. The two sausage patty bins suffered from attention as well but not quite as bad as the bacon. Only once did the sausage bins completely run out.Turkey sausage patties were also offered in Texas along with two bins of sausage links.
Breakfast cereal selections were also missing from this restaurant location along with a sausage gravy bin. Mini Belgian waffles were also missing plus the fruit toppings for them. Mini quiche selection were also not available. Overall service was fine with our plates being picked up and drinks refilled. Of note was several times I had to remove multiple dirty dishes and bowls from the clean pile. Small children were allowed to run around and pick from the buffet unsupervised. I did observe a wait staff telling the children to not run but it fell on deaf ears. Parents please take some responsibility here and assist your children at the bar.
We fully understand that this is a buffet and not a five star restaurant but still this location fell below of what one should expect from this company. Perhaps they were understaffed for the holiday in the kitchen but the place was far from capacity so I do not see an excuse for not replenishing the food bins. I can not fault the lack of selections as it may be a different story here compared to our former location in Texas. I do have to take away points for dirty dishes entering the dining room as clean though. Maybe once in awhile a dirty one I can see but the amount we encountered was not acceptable. On a positive note I did see temperatures being taken from the food bins to ensure proper holding temperatures for health reasons. The omelette/egg station cook was very friendly and attentive. There were no issues at the fresh carving station either.
So overall we would give this location a C- based on eating at this chain in several states over the last 25 years. Not our worst dining experience but it could have been better. I think the main focus for management is to concentrate on the...
Read moreI’m very disappointed in the management and staffing of this establishment! I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!
My family went here 3/3/2024 to eat but was not allowed to stay due to the negligence of the manager & staffing. There were 8 adults and 5 little ones under the age of 5. While three of the adults were at the front of the line the rest of the party was in the back because another party (a man with two other people) were in between them. One of the guys in that party was having an attitude that had nothing to do with my family as we don’t know him from the next stranger. The cashier on the other side tells the guy and his party that she can help them. Mr Attitude stood there upset for who knows what reason while the rest of our party was waiting for him to move. The cashier then again tells him she can help him on the other side, so he finally gives in. While the other two people walked around my sister in law and our littles, the one with the attitude chooses to walk in between the small space between the stroller and the counter. While walking through that small space he happens to bump and knock over my nephews who are 2 and 3. My uncle and brother immediately jumped to defend our kids while Mr Attitude doesn’t even acknowledge his wrong doings and proceeds to go pay for his family to eat. The cashier and Mr Attitude ignore my family yelling about him knocking over our kids. The cashier continues like nothing is going on and takes his payment , the manager comes and tells my family they have to go without trying to understand what the situation is. Just assuming my family was in the wrong when all he saw was the reaction from my brother and uncle afterwards. If you have kids, you would’ve protected them the same. No grown man should be having an attitude that bad that you go stomping around because you had to get help on the opposite side, knock over little innocent kids and then have the AUDACITY to not even apologize!!! While the manager was explaining to my aunt why we have to leave Mr Attitude asks the cashier if he needed to stay she told him “No you go ahead and enjoy your food.” Again negligence from the staffing instead of being fair to all customers they chose to favor the one who caused all the chaos.
I feel like Mr Attitude and his family should’ve been asked to leave as well since he was the reason any commotion even happened.
Management didn’t apologize nor did they ever ask for our side, just said we had to leave.
If you do decide to dine here protect your kids! This establishment didn’t care for ours and was ok with a grown man acting like a child and knocking our kids over just because he can’t...
Read moreThis was only my second time ever going to a Golden Corral. I love a good buffet, but this is not a good buffet. It’s mediocre food for people who are okay with that. Walk in and stand in line. When you get to the register you pay for your meal and a drink. I went for lunch, and with a soda it cost me just under $19. It’s more expensive for dinner and more expensive on the weekends. They do give discounts to seniors. You get your own soda and of course it’s a buffet so you serve yourself. They do have a waitress, but she/he is not actually serving you. They’re there to look at your receipt and make sure you really paid for your meal and drink, and to bus your table. There is a decent selection of food but it’s not huge. The food is definitely mediocre at best, but it’s not bad. It made me think of the chow hall in the military (some food are overcooked, some undercooked, most lacking flavor & using the cheapest ingredients possible.) the meatloaf was still pink inside & was dry on the edges like it sat out a while. I was really sad their yeast rolls were dried out & crusty. The bbq chicken was also a little undercooked but dry from sitting out. You seat yourself and I have only heard of them making people leave if you’re there an extremely long time. They want you to sit down and socialize and enjoy being there. The bathrooms definitely needed attention and they’re small and cramped. So small, that I had to exit the little hallway just to let someone out of the bathroom who was visibly pregnant. There are no paper towel towels just the air dryers in the bathroom, probably to save money and keep things looking a little more orderly. There was plenty of free parking. It’s definitely not a bad place to go if you have people in your group who have large appetites. But it’s not someplace that I would recommend going just because the food is not very good. To be fair, the other golden corral I visited had the same kind of food. So I don’t think they have a bad chef, I think it’s just the way they want their chefs to cook. But I seem to be a minority in the fact that I’m not a fan of the golden corral because they always have a crowd there. I did not try their desserts cause I’m not a big dessert person, so I can’t tell you how they tasted. But they looked pretty. They even had cotton candy. The staff were all very pleasant to deal with, but not one of them smiled. And if you have to go to the bathroom, I would recommend going after your meal. The bathroom had a very bad odor, and it will affect your appetite coming...
