I’m going to start off by saying I’ve never not tipped a waitress and this review would be 5 stars if you had asked me about this place before tonight. So tonight I decided I wanted to go for a dinner salad and some wings. I ordered a drink of a kiddie cocktail and did not get the correct drink. Realizing that’s a regional term i explained what i wanted to the waitress for her to tell me “oh well I didn’t charge you for the drink”. That’s fine but I didn’t even like the drink. Instead of just getting me what I wanted she brought me a glass of sprite for me to mix my drink the way I wanted. So what happened? It spilled all over the table during the transfer. That i could give her a pass on as I didn’t fully explain myself. So I go to order dinner. I clearly asked for a dinner garden salad with thousand island dressing and Thai chili wings. She asks what protien i wanted on my salad and I told her I didn’t want anything. Just the vegetables that came on the dinner garden (all while pointing to the dinner garden salad on the menu). She then tells me she can’t ring It up without a protien. So I got chicken. When she brought my food out (40 minutes later. Again I could have dealt with this if everything else wasn’t wrong) with this gaint salad. Confused on their portioning of a dinner salad i ate some of It and focused on the wings. She never came back to the table to discus refills or anything. She would just shout from a few tables away “is everything good?!” So finally the moment I’ve been longing for the full dinner was to get the bill and leave! After reviewing the price (in shock) I confront her about ringing me up for the wrong salad. She blamed It on me telling me I asked for a protien when we went back and forth about me not wanting one. Then she calls the manager and explains the situation and tells me she can’t adjust It. I was like whatever let me pay but I want to speak to your manager too. She gets defensive and says I already talked to her and this was her choice. I explained I didn’t care and needed to speak with her anyways. Whitney comes down and talks to me. I start explaining what had happened and she immediately corrected the billing agreeing I was correct and ordered correctly. This review would have been 5 stars hands down if Whitney was the only person I dealt with. Even with a long wait. I’m so grateful she knew immediately when I explained what happened that she wasn’t told the whole story. Needless to say If you order any food here be very clear to the waitress. Pointing and calling It by the menu name is not enough. Whitney I regret not leaving you a tip as well as the waitress with nothing. You deserved It for your 5 minutes of help. I hope you understand why I did not leave the waitress a tip however that I would not change. I will eat here again but if the same waitress is there I’ll leave. I would not set myself up for that...
Read moreI recently visited The Hatchcover in Colorado Springs during their self-proclaimed "all ages" hours (7 adults &3 children), expecting a pleasant and enjoyable evening. However, my experience was far from satisfactory. I would like to share my concerns regarding the overserving of alcohol to patrons and the unprofessional behavior displayed by one of the bartenders.
Firstly, I was shocked to witness the excessive overserving of alcohol before 7 PM, during what was supposed to be an all-ages time frame. The Hatchcover claims to be welcoming to people of all ages, yet the atmosphere was more akin to a rowdy bar scene. It was evident that numerous patrons were already heavily intoxicated, which created an uncomfortable environment for families and individuals looking for a more relaxed setting.
What truly exacerbated the situation was the response I received when I approached one of the bartenders (Katie) to express my concerns. Instead of addressing the issue with professionalism and empathy, the bartender responded in an unprofessional and abusive manner. To my astonishment, the bartender shamelessly dismissed my concerns, remarking, "Well, this is a bar." Such a response not only disregarded my valid concerns but also displayed a complete lack of respect for customer feedback.
As a customer, I believe it is essential for establishments like The Hatchcover to prioritize responsible alcohol service, especially during designated all-ages hours. Overserving patrons not only compromises the safety and well-being of those involved but also undermines the integrity of the establishment itself.
Furthermore, the unprofessional conduct of the bartender reflects poorly on The Hatchcover as a whole. Customers should feel comfortable expressing their concerns without fear of being shamed or belittled. It is crucial for staff members to maintain a level of professionalism and respond to customer feedback with attentiveness and respect.
In light of my disappointing experience at The Hatchcover, I cannot recommend this establishment, particularly during their self-proclaimed all-ages hours. The combination of overserving and the unprofessional behavior displayed by the bartender made for an unpleasant and unsatisfactory visit. I hope that The Hatchcover takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for...
Read moreIrresponsible and Dangerous: A Warning to Potential Patrons! I am appalled by the complete lack of responsibility and care exhibited by the Hatch Cover. My recent experience at this bar has left me extremely concerned for the safety of its customers. Despite clear signs of extreme intoxication, the bartending staff of the karaoke section upstairs, failed to cut off a severely inebriated customer. Instead, they watched as this guy became completely intoxicated. It is unacceptable that three bouncers, aware of the situation, stood idly by and allowed this dangerous situation to escalate unchecked. When this guy was finally “escorted” out, he was in such a state of intoxication that he was unable to even walk properly and was found passed out in front of the bar, on a grass hill in 34° weather, with his jacket carelessly thrown across the sidewalk. It took a concerned customer (not the bar staff, who jokingly laughed and said it’s not in their job description) to call an ambulance and ensure that this guy received some medical attention and not freeze in the drizzle and low temperatures. Throughout this entire ordeal, it was evident that The Hatch Cover prioritized profit over the safety and well-being of its customers. The lack of concern displayed by both the bartender and especially the bouncers is absolutely reprehensible. It is clear that they have no regard for the welfare of their customers or the reputation of the bar as a whole. I would urge anyone considering this place to think twice. For a small bar, this is not a place where you can expect to be looked after or cared for in any way. Their irresponsible actions pose a serious risk to the safety and health of everyone who come. Avoid this establishment...
