My pizza tastes have changed after spending some time in Italy, where most people don’t have diabetes. Pizza in Italy is thinner, less sweet, but somehow more flavorful.
I was actually blown away by how good PizzAmoré is. I remember going to Ducas pizza and it was definitely good, but I didn’t feel compelled to write a review. It seems a lot has changed with their reopening and WOW, this place is a hidden gem, at least for now.
The environment is super cozy with about a 10 seat bar, numerous indoor tables, plus a patio. The staff were all super attentive and even when they were busy the hostess checked on us and put in our pizza order since our server was with another table.
Their jalapeño bites are not your standard frozen poppers, they are hand made with their own dough and baked; delicious and have a bit of a kick, unlike most generic alternatives. With the honey drizzle we didn’t need any ranch or marinara to dip, they are just perfect as they come.
Their bruschetta is truly the best I’ve ever had, EVEN in Italy. Bruschetta is usually less than perfect due to a big slab of cold mozzarella, hard bread, too little balsamic, mediocre tomatoes, too little basil, or any combination of those. Somehow they have this perfectly toasted bread that’s still soft in the middle, and so much fresh basil I just kind of want to drive back and get more bruschetta. Just order it and thank me later.
They have a bunch of cool pizzas on the menu but I really wanted spicy so we ordered the sausage and pepper but added pepperoni and hot chilis. The style of pizza just reminds me of Italy, it’s thin but it’s not what we think of as “thin crust”, and the sauce isn’t sweet. It just tasted homemade and delicious.
I didn’t think a really reasonably priced delicious dinner could get any better…but they had a live band playing tonight (Friday) and the guy was doing perfect Noah Kahn covers.
I’m just so shocked we can get AMAZING food, great service, and a killer live band in Colorado Springs. The only negative I can think of is the beer selection. No real craft stuff, especially not local; the seasonal IPA was Goose Island (AB/INBEV), but they had Peroni, so to me that cancels out.
Summary: if you want amazing pizza and great service this is a place you REALLY...
Read moreIf you're tired of garbage pizza with weird crust and fake cheese, you need this place in your life! The pizza, baking process, and ingredients are superior to any I've had in my 34 years in Colorado Springs. The meat toppings taste like they came straight from Italy! Lots of fresh real mozzarella The crust is perfection. ❤ Next time we will bring the rest of the family and also try a thick crust, but I adored the thin, crunchy, smoky crust. My granddaughter ate her entire kids pizza, which was bigger than her head (: Never happened before!
My 80 year old mom and I had a DELICIOUS assortment of Italian cold cuts and flavorful peppers on ours, and we git totally full sharing it. I see comments that the pizza is expensive for the size, but if you want to stuff your face with junk like a "fat kid" I suggest a chain that sells crap dough smeared with jar sauce and cheap cheese...if you want to go out to eat a superior meal that happens to be the most delicious gourmet pizza you can find, come here. 18.95 is not a high price for this quality. I'm a very big woman, but my mom and I were full from sharing 1 pizza. Our original plan was to share and split a large salad, (they have gorgeous salads on the menu too), but our very sweet server got busy and forgot to bring it and by the time she came to see how our pizza was we had each eaten a slice and knew we wouldn't want the salad so we canceled. We both left full and feeling like we ate healthy. This is an AWESOME place for a date and they have a little stage where our server told us they often have live music. They have a great sandwich assortment and the longest and yummiest looking dessert menu I've seen. I think there were over a dozen choices. If you're into eating quality food this is...
Read moreThe good/okay: very sweet and attentive server the day we came. It was a Sunday and there was no one else in the restaurant except one other person. Server was the only staff in the restaurant so things took longer than expected. The bad: the food is just not good. If you think otherwise it's probably because you've never had proper Neapolitan pizza. I'm giving two stars because the pizza crust was well made Neapolitan style and tasted good. Otherwise, the toppings were low quality and tasted like they'd come out of a can or had been pre-heated. The pizza overall lacked flavor and the toppings like chicken and peppers, were sparse, even for this pizza style. We also ordered a salad and it was the same experience: vinaigrette came out of some bottle, shredded mozzarella tasted like it was packaged/from a bag with that rubbery plastic texture and taste. The cheese on the pizza was better quality but the pizza was drowning in ricotta so it was hard to taste anything else. They advertise fresh ingredients but if you've eaten outside this city or state or country, you know the difference. Also, I ordered my child just plain buttered pasta. Even this was a mess. The pasta was hard in some places like it had been reheated or microwaved. She ate two bites and said it tasted bad. I'd forgive all of this were it not for the fact the pizza alone was $20 and the salad $11. If restaurants in this city, which tend to be mostly mediocre, are charging East and West coast prices for their food, they'd better start improving the quality and taste to match. Hard to say if it's a statewide problem with sourcing ingredients or just low bar for quality in this city. Really wanted to like it and I'm sorry I can't give it a...
