Who the heck gives this place 5 starts????
Easter 2023 comes only once in a lifetime and at Cheyenne Mountain resort Easter Brunch was a terrible disappointment! I knew that getting a reservation there on such notice was too good to be true.
I booked a reservation on Open Table for 9:00 a.m. When I checked in at the hostess stand upon arrival the hostess told us that we had only 30 minutes to eat, naturally I was very unhappy she then explained that they were to begin the brunch seating and we were to be out. All seatings until 10:00 were serving only breakfast, the actual brunch didn't start until 10. Everyone there at the time, about seven tables seated around us were under the same impression and were equally as angry. What made matters worse was when the manager came out to address our frustration he argued with us and tried to explain that it was clear in the website that Brunch started at 10. The problem is that the website immediately directed us to Open Table to make reservations and nowhere on Open Table does it warn people that a 9:00 seating was not Brunch. Breakfast consists of scrambled eggs and link sausage for $60, the same thing we get for free at other hotels and the hotel I had just checked out of.
I'm a native of Colorado Springs and I've been coming to this resort at least 3 times a year for nearly 40 years and on every visit with continually expanding crowds and now under Wyndham management this place does not deserve the reputation it once enjoyed, what's even more tragic is that as long as they keep having sold out bookings and can charge nearly $90 a person AND get it, this rating and rant will be seen as only one insignificant voiceless nobody. I'm pretty confident that everyone of the people at the tables around us will be writting a similar review and will be voting with thier feet as I will!
Technology will kill the service industry and one day the point of difference of a service provider will be the ability for patrons to actually TALK to a human being and where service and reputation are more important than...
Read moreWe’ve always looked forward to the Cheyenne Mountain Resort Mother’s Day brunch—years ago it was a standout experience with great food, amazing views, and solid service. Sadly, this year was a huge letdown.
Food lines were long and chaotic, and the staff refilling the buffet were noticeably rude—pushing past guests to do their jobs without so much as a “pardon me.” I understand it’s a busy day, but there’s a way to hustle without being abrasive. As for the food: underwhelming at best. The “fresh carved chicken” was incredibly dry, oysters were oddly hard and inedible, and even the bagels were stale. Twice, my plate was taken from me while I was still eating—food still on it, fork in hand. Completely unacceptable.
We opted for the unlimited mimosas (which used to be complimentary on Mother’s Day), only to be told there’s now a 90-minute limit. Despite that, we only received two, as our server kept forgetting our drink orders—including coffee. When the bill finally came, it had to be corrected three times.
This used to be the place to celebrate. Now, it feels overpriced and poorly managed. For what we paid, we expected so much more. Disappointed and sad to say we likely...
Read moreI really wanted to like this establishment but was left wanting. First the positive, the view and the ambience is great. First class place with the accouterments to support it. Service was fast and thorough (with a caveat later) although the crowd was sparse so service should have been good. Now the negative, the majority of the food was military dining facility quality with the exception of the fruit whereas the fresh berries were excellent. The biscuits were the consistency of hockey pucks and the scrambled eggs were the consistency of oatmeal. Further the menu stated omelet station, pancakes, waffles and smoked salmon, None of which were present. And when we inquired the waitress stated she could get those things for us but by then everyone had eaten. Maybe a statement upfront that those items are available by request should be implemented. For $25 a plate I don't think that is too much too ask for. Again nice place not so great food. Go for coffee and a Danish if you really want to experience the ambience, other than that there are much better dining...
