Mariscos Altamar — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Very dissapointed... Had seen the commercials on tv and my wife and I were really looking forward to trying it out with the hopes of having a good mexican style seafood meal.

The staff is very unprofessional and disorganized. When we arrived they sat us on a table next to the entrance and put a chair on the end, then the waitress came by and asked if we could move to a different table, next to the bathroom. I declined the request and you could tell she was not happy about it. We waiting at least another 5 to 10 minutes and no one returned to take our drinks order. Finally, another table towards the center of the restaurant opened up and we were moved to it. We got a new waitress with a better attitude. She took our drink orders, by then we were also ready to order food.

We ordered a green agua chile to share between wife and I, we both also got octopus and shrimp cocktails. Kids got a carne azada plate and burrito.

I don't exagerate when I say that it was at least 30 minutes if not more before we saw the agua chile come out first. I expected it to be spicy, but it was actually pretty bland.

Finally the rest of our food came out probably at the 45 minute mark. The cocktails were a bit low in octopus. I didn't like the flavor, I know this is a matter of preference, but it was not the flavors my wife or I were expecting. I give them a 2 out of 5 on flavor for these.

The burrito and carne azada plates were ok. The carne azada was a bit burnt and tough, looked like it had been overcooked.

While the waitress was nice on this new table, she was not ver attentive and took a while to get her attention. It also took a while to finally get our check.

The check... another bad taste surprise! Not only did service sucked for the most part, and took for ever to get our food... They had the nerve to add the 15% tip to the check already. Maybe they know they are so bad that people don't want to tip... Either way, that is absurd and should not be done. Tip is earned based on service and quality, not just added to every check!

Needless to say, the Michelada I had was the ONLY tasty thing in there, everything else was a big disappointment and we won't...

Me and my family have been dining here for sometime and we never had any Issues,food is always great! But this past Sunday was the exception, the head waitress was extremely rude to us did not acknowledge anyone as they walked in or let them know they had to sign in to get on a list you kind of had to figure it out. After we finally got seated we were left there with no drinks for 30 minutes. When our order was finally taken it took about an hour to get it and no one checked for refills or more chips or even explained.The place was not busy like other days or else I would of totally understood. So disappointing specially at the staff we will not...

I ordered a Carne Asada burrito. I was the only customer there and it took 35+ minutes. It also came with a salad, which confused me, it had orange slices in it. I know its a seafood place, but im not a fan of seafood, so I ordered a go to of mine when trying a place out. A carne asada burrito. It was bad. The meat wasnt good, it didnt come with salsa, just meat in the burrito with bad rice and bad pico de gallo. No beans. I couldnt believe people liked the food from this place. I will visit it again to give it a second chance and order some actual seafood. But for now, mariscos altamar, worst mexican food...
