We used to eat here all of the time. I had a really awful experience with a to-go order during dinner time recently and on top of it we were overcharged for our items.
I was patient & decided to wait to get into contact with them on the next day when they were maybe not as busy.
It quickly got weird & very tense when I kindly called Mi Mexico the next afternoon, before the lunch rush came- (I used to work in the restaurant business so I absolutely always approach things like this understandingly) .. I then talked directly to the owner about it .. sadly, he was immediately extremely defensive, he denied the experience I shared with him and he talked over me the whole time I was explaining- right from the start- it was so odd.
Truly. It was wild.
It made me feel very taken advantage of and to say the least- unheard.
In all of my patience & thoughtfulness I truly did not expect an angry man on the other end of the telephone. Most people would not have even been as nice as I was for what happened and on top of that- being overcharged??
I thought to myself- for sure he could not be the owner with how he conducted himself. But nope- it was the indeed the owner.
Even if I caught him on a bad day- it doesn’t matter- there is no excuse for the bad energy and his quippy unprofessional responses.
Colorado Springs is a small community- people don’t like being taken advantage of .. and then being insulted afterwards.
??
This business will NOT last very many more years with this type of business practice and especially his applied ethics. They’re seemingly rotten.
We will not be back.
Work on yourselves, Mi Mexico. There is no future for you here if you can’t be honest and kind to the patrons that help to support your business.
Don’t take everything so personally- in a restaurant business things happen and you have to be prepared to handle them, maturely, professionally and understandingly.
100% especially if the customer is being nothing but kind. I’m still dumbfounded at what happened.
CUSTOMERS- Pay close attention to your ticket prices if you order and double check your items before you leave if you take a to go. They’re not operating honestly.
Thank you...
Read moreI always pass by and there’s so many people in here. So I thought I would give it a try. I had this blonde Latin lady for a server. I didn’t get her name because she brought my food and that was literally it. This was by far the worst service I’ve had in all of Colorado I will give them one more shot, but I will definitely ask for another server. If given the blonde lady again she was so nasty rude to me for no reason I almost thought it was because Im black until I talked to my coworker about it that lives right down the street from me and he said the same thing that she was terrible to him as Well so that helped me not feel as bad, but the service was so terrible that I was feeling awful as a person. I don’t know if she was treating me bad because I stuck with water or that I went by myself I don’t know, but it had me feeling lower than low by the time I left I rushed and ate my food and got out of there because the atmosphere was terrible. I felt rushed and I didn’t even get a refill on my water. They brought me the check while asking for dessert which was so unprofessional to me. I tried to get a good conversation in with the server About a dish that I was curious about she rushed me off saying yes yes yes yes yes 10 times and under a minute, so I wasted my money on something I didn’t even want and the flavor wasn’t even there at all for me. I honestly don’t even know why I tipped probably because I worked in the industry so I’m not a harsh critic at all. I really just want good food at the end of the day but the way I was treated it was kind...
Read moreWe went tonight for the first time on a Sunday evening. They weren't busy and we were seated almost immediately. We were brought some chips and salsa. The chips were average and the salsa was unimpressive to us. It seemed like seasoned water more than actual salsa.
We got the Arroz Con Pollo and a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup. First the soup: I've had this soup anywhere that makes it and I'll say this was simply average, Chick-Fil-A's Chicken Tortilla Soup is much better, but this seemed like homemade. It had decent heat to it, but the tortilla strips were already in the soup, soggy and breaking apart. I'm used to getting them on the side and using them for a crunch in the soup, so maybe it's just how they do it. For the Arroz Con Pollo, it wasn't too bad and the tortillas that came with it seemed super fresh and were great. In fact, we ordered a dozen of tortillas to go.
We ordered a frozen strawberry margarita as well. We typically try that everywhere as well. It lacked the taste of strawberry and was more alcoholic than most we've had. So far, Mamita's has among the best we've tried so far.
All in all, the experience was ok, the pricing seemed fair and the service was good. Ultimately the question remains, "Would we return?" and the answer is unanimous amongst all of us that went, probably not. Not because anything was "bad". More that there's better places in our opinion. We tried it and are...
