Pho-nomenal — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Worst experience I've ever had... my wife and I placed an order online to go. When I arrived I was told my order couldn't be found to start with. It's not expressed that if you place a to go order you have to assemble your own meal, but if you think you're getting everything in the bowl you're incredibly wrong!! The bowls were filled to the brim with no possible way of adding ingredients without dumping some or drinking scolding hot broth. Then opening your food there's loose raw meat sitting there waiting to contaminate everything you might want. The spring rolls tasted like they had gone bad, and the peanut sauce was rancid. Finally after getting to the point we could finally eat, and after about an 1/8th of my boba smoothie (by the way banana is banana candy and lychee was most decidedly not lychee) my wife points out the ball of hair STUCK TO THE INSIDE OF THE DRINK!!! Can you say health violation cause I sure can! I throw everything in the trash and run to the bathroom in a hurry. After everything settles for a moment I call the restaurant and talk to Ken (not a good experience with him either). While trying to explain why I'm calling he cuts overtop of me telling me I shouldn't have thrown out their contaminated food and should have called first. Nevermind that his restaurant has ruined our dinner I'm the one in the wrong for putting garbage food where it belonged. He then continuously argues with me when I told him I'd fish it out of the trash and bring back to him. He eventually agrees to refund the money then hangs up on my wife while she's trying to get him to stop repeating for the 15th time about the food. I had all but forgotten about this place until a family member from out of town mentioned going here. It instantly brought back not so good memories. I've only been here twice, & both time I can say the food was amazing. However, the first time I went, I ordered regular(not spicy) fish sauce numerous times but I was continually given the spicy because the staff was too busy flirting with each other. We were also never offered a refill on our drinks, we had to ask for utensils twice, & then we were expected to leave a tip. Like I stated before, the food was great, so I decided to give them another try. I took my husband to lunch later on in the week. The second time I tried a rice plate. It was very flavorful. However, half way through my meal, I noticed something brown in my rice. When I used my fork to pick it up, it was a piece of hair that was at least 12 inches long wound up in the ball of rice on my plate. I called our server over to show them, & I was immediately told that it belonged to the owner because she was in the kitchen helping. He also stated that no one wanted to tell her about this because they were all afraid of her. He then proceeded to bring me a to-go box to pack up my remaining food, along with the check for the full price of our meals. I was not offered any compensation for the inconvenience, nor was I given an apology. Solid, delicious bowl of soup. I wasn’t very hungry so wanted to get the small bowl but my friends told me to just get the medium. When I looked at the people on the next table, I saw the small bowl and actually I was thankful because the bowl was indeed very small. Stick with medium size bowl unless you really have a very small stomach.

I had the medium bowl number 11 with noodles on the side and they did not skimp out on any of the ingredients. They still brought me a brimming-to-the full bowl with noodles on the side as requested. It was delicious.

As I have noticed in my previous visits, they still do use a good portion of MSG (I have this weird allergic reaction to MSG when it is above a certain point and I definitely get that after I finish eating here. This time it was a little bit more, probably because it was the first time I have had it without the noodles. I need to remember not to drink so much of the soup, even though it’s so good).

From my previous visits, I do not recommend the fried rice or the chicken wings, but stick to the bowl of pho.

Service was amazing. Our girl was totally friendly and did not make us feel bad at all for requesting all these additional items because of my keto, etc.
