I am very sorry to say that the quality of Poor Richards has gone down in the past few years.... My family and I started going here about 15 years ago and it was one of our FAVORITE places. From the service to the atmosphere to the food. Unfortunately a lot of the quality is no longer there. Especially in the food and the service. The Pizza use to be one of a kind! Delicious, nice portions (NY Size) and healthy topping amounts. They also use to have a whole wheat crust options which we would ALWAYS get because it was delicious! Now they don't offer that which was one thing that gave Poor Richards a monopoly and made their pizza so unique. The pizza that they served me this past week that I visited was dried around the edges, the toppings were very sparingly used and in general the pizza was mediocre. NOT what Poor Richards pizza was for the 12+ years before! And on top of that the service was just as disappointing. No table service now. It feels like Panera :( Also, they forgot toppings on my salad that I specifically asked for, they didn't tell us that we have to go all the way to the cafe to get our tap beers (???? seriously?), and they also forgot our Focaccia that we also specifically asked for. So I had to go back to the counter a total of three times just to get what I ordered. I am so sad and disappointed. I will no longer visit and no...
Read moreI've never been in a store (all three book store, Cafe and toy store) that had so much negative energy. The heaviness of it was a little to much. On top of that, I was in the book store for 20 minutes before anyone spoke to me. Yes, I still wanted to look around, I just prayed as I did so. The cafe was full of folks with most tables occupied with singles on their laptops. The toy store was full of people making the tiny space very claustrophobic. The female employee was very loud and a little bit obnoxious. I finally left and sat outside to get some much needed fresh air. When a business carries so much negative material, and the customers are buying into it and bringing their negative energy, it will accumulate making it very uncomfortable for those who have a positive energy. Customers who enjoy this place and this small business, carry on. I will not be one of them and don't recommend it. I understand businesses want and need to cater to the public in order to keep it's doors open but like I said the negative energy in this place is...
Read moreDear Poor Richard's, I have a confession for you. Did you know you're my favorite place to go downtown? As an adult, I've enjoyed browsing your bookstore for a new read or a great gift countless times. I loved to read in your cafe and watch snowstorms swirl past your windows. When I was little I played in your playhouse in the back and squealed in delight to pick out a new toy from your toy shop. As a teenager you were my go-to for a dinner date. I know you had to close your restaurants down due to the pandemic, but I wanted you to know I still think about your pizza fondly (the perfect pepperoni and avocado combination!). I miss your salads and your wine. I miss hanging out on the patio and watching life go by over a steaming latte. Another confession: You are where my parents ran into each other for the second time and decided to exchange numbers and begin to date in earnest 30 years ago. So perhaps, in a way, I owe you my existence. Thanks for being you.
I'll wait for you.
You always have a place in my heart (and...
