I was not impressed. Our company works with numerous hotels in Colorado for events and corporate meetings. I’m not sure we would go back. My first issue was we signed our contract but then got an email the day before saying they did not have our signed order and they would have to cancel. I replied with our signed order and the email to accept it. I am surprised this would be handled via email and not a phone call. They did respond and said it was because we didn’t sign the changes. The change was adding bottled water! I was hoping this was the only flaw, all events have flaws. I then got a call from one of our associates the evening of check in and they did not have his reservation. Similar to other reviews on here. We provided them with the exact reservation confirmation email I received. They said it was from an online site like Priceline, but I called their phone number and made the reservation over the phone with the hotel and the email confirmation was the hotel’s email. We have to fill out authorization forms so I never make reservations with third parties or online. Plus, their cancellation policies are awful! I digress. I gave the hotel all the information for all of our associates and their check in and asked they look into everything and call me back. Long story short after 45 minutes my associate calls back and they found the reservation. No one ever called me back to assure me the rest of the reservations were ok. This does seem to happen a lot when company cards are used and an authorization is required so I also let this one go. Upon my arrival to check in two others, I had to wait in the lobby for 20 minutes. No one was around. One of the associates is an executive and we asked for a room away from noise and with a nice view. One of two requests were met. No one was around our meeting room to greet us upon arrival. We ordered the banquet breakfast for 7:30 and had to stop and ask someone for it when it was still not present at 8AM. No one ever came back to check on us ok for coffee or water or in general. Later I had to call to get those things and they did not seem very happy we asked. I tried calling back later to see if we could order lunch but was not able to get ahold of anyone from our contacts or banquets. The front desk person just said no they probably wouldn’t be able to, they don’t open the kitchen until 3. Their elevators are not locked by use of room keys as are other area hotels and our meeting was interrupted twice by non guests looking for restrooms. The meeting room was great and technology worked perfectly, but no one was around if it had not been working properly. After the meeting concluded I went back to pick up our items. The bell person asked for my keys. I informed him I had another meeting and was just going in for a laptop. He asked for them again, I said no thank you. He then stepped in front of me and held out his hand. I really didn’t understand this as I was parked in a 30 minute zone. I gave him the keys, go in, grab the laptop and come back out and he was gone. No keys in sight. I waited about 10 minutes until finally asking the front desk. They said they hadn’t seen him. After 5 minutes they came out to his stand and got my keys. I was late to the next meeting unfortunately and extremely frustrated at this point. It has been three days and I have not heard from the hotel so I emailed, asking for a final receipt. They said since there were no adds our contract should suffice and to contact their accounting department. I have never not received room receipts or banquet receipts from a hotel after an event before. Nor has a hotel never not reached out after to see how things went. The whole experience was very odd and cold. A few times in passing the front desk seemed understaffed and people were waiting each time. For a 4 star hotel, it was just not the service we expected nor have even experienced at much lesser type hotels. The rooms were clean and...
Read moreMy husband and I used the Mining Exchange as the main hotel block for our guests during our wedding weekend in Colorado Springs for its convenient location and beautiful aesthetic, but we were very disappointed with the outcome. If you choose this venue for your event, triple check all the details!
Check-in When we tried to check in on Friday, we found that the reservation was booked by the sales team incorrectly and even though we requested Friday-Monday in our email, it was booked Saturday to Monday so we (the bride and groom) had to wait in the lobby for an hour since the hotel was full unsure if we would have to find another accommodation. Thankfully, the team made room for us in a standard king but we should have had the upgraded suite we were promised and we had the extra inconvenience of having to move all of our stuff to another room the next day in between our morning rehearsal, luncheon, and welcome party events. Check-out was at 11 and check-in wasn't guaranteed till 4pm, so we put our things in my parents room so we didn't have to leave my wedding dress and belongings behind the front desk during the transition. Once moved into the suite, the toilet panel in the parlor fell off and the flush buttons would not work. We reported this Sunday morning and this was not fixed by the time we checked out Monday afternoon. My mother had the same issue in her room, but unfortunately she only had one toilet in her room so she had to find a public restroom till it was fixed the next day. Your guests should also get discounted valet pricing if they book through your room block, but they might have to mention this to the valet since my father got charged regular pricing and we had to mention it and get a refund when we were addressing all the issues we had after.
After party event During the stressful check-in process, I asked to confirm everything was correct for the afterparty we booked on Sunday from 10-12pm which we reserved past normal bar hours. The team confirmed everything was on the calendar for the event, also calling to confirm location and time of event again later that day. When our family showed up at 10 for the event, the bar was closed and they were very rude to my mother and the groom's mother about there not being an event. After some disgruntled phone calls, they started serving guests about 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and served as an open bar even though it was booked as a cash bar with a spending minimum as discussed with the event team. Once we had noticed, the bartenders went around to charge those already served for their drinks which was very confusing and some people felt they might have been double charged by accident. Another issue we heard later was that 5 sprites were ordered for children (12-13 y/o) and the server brought them titos and sprites; this was fixed once they saw they were kids, but this means IDs were not checked when orders were made and it was assumed they wanted alcohol in their soda order...
Follow up Shortly after getting back, we shared all of these concerns with the sales team; Shannon Petty was quickly responsive, very sympathetic, and helpful in figuring out some billing issues. She said she would share these experiences with the higher leadership team and we would get a follow up, but 3 weeks later we've heard nothing which makes us feel like they don't really care about the experience of their guests' who book events and bringing them a large amount of business.
The hotel has a great location and is very pretty, but these glitches made our wedding stay stressful for us and our guests. We would have loved it much more if we didn't have to deal with...

We strolled into Colorado Springs for the Labor Day Lift Off and decided to stay at the Mining Exchange for its location and close proximity to restaurants and the park where the event was being held.
To start our experience, we checked in went to our rooms to find that someone had thrown up on the carpet right Infront of the room we were given. We jumped over the vomit to use the room phone to call the front desk to advise them. There was NO PHONE in the room to call the front desk. So we jumped over the vomit again went down the elevator to the lobby and advised the front desk who took care of it right away.
Our first night in our room which had a connecting door was loud and terrible. The occupants of the room next door were part of a bachelorette party and they decided to bring the after party to their room with over 20 females in one room intoxicated. Yelling and laughing from about 10pm to about 4am. I could not call downstairs because the room did not have a phone and did not want to get up, get dressed and walk down to the lobby so i put on my headphones and tried to whiteout the noise. This worked fine till about 2am when my headphones died. At 2am i got fed up walked downstairs to complain only to find that the lobby and whole street was surrounded by Colorado Springs PD because a police pursuit ended with the getaway car ramming into multiple parked Valet cars parked out front. Our car was just 2 cars away from where the pursuit ended. Even though the front lobby had their hands full they sent security up to check on the noise and the room. They knocked on their door and told them to stay quiet which did not work and 1 hour later i had to go back downstairs and complain again. I asked for another room but the hotel was booked and were unable to move me rooms till the morning. After he second complaint, security called all occupants out of the noisy room and the noise stopped. Only 1 hour left till we had to get up and go to the Labor Day Lift Off event, so we had little to no sleep.
Then at our checkout as we got on the elevator with all our bags the elevator got stuck and we were unable to open the door for 10 minutes. Finally we got out were able to use the stairs and walk down 5+ luggages between 4 people.
Other issues this hotel has is a very narrow hallway in the lobby in and out of the elevators. With construction going on in an already narrow space.
There is no coffee bar in the rooms at all, no telephones in the rooms.
The lobby has a pitiful coffee station that can be found better at your local holiday inn for the price you are paying here.
Parking is only valet at $45 dollars a day and if you want to self park it really...
