This park used to be so nice, as well as Dorchester Park down South Nevada, but both are completely infested with homeless drug addicts who sleep and live in these once-wonderful places, using them for their personal restrooms, trash cans and drug use facilities. Just taking the g-kids to the Uncle Wilbur fountain results in plain-view drug use and transactions, sex, career pothead solicitation and harassment, bathing in and getting WAY too close to the kids in the fountain, begging for money food and drugs....and the most horrible smell coming from them.....yet our worthless liberal "they have rights too" City Council refuse to do anything about it: they encourage it and try to make you feel guilty for thinking badly of these disgusting beggars. Notice how Starbucks across the street from the park eventually shut down, AND the subsequent coffee shop? There's your answer. People avoided it because it was more hassle than it was worth to be subjected to their liberal policies allowing them to just come in and loiter for as long as they wanted to. The same it true for this Park. I can't tell you how many times I've found syringes and garbage and campsite leftovers and human waste and anything else you can imagine lying around in this park. Don't get me started on all the sudden "service dog" explosion with these people....they pretend to handicapped to avoid being singled out. Avoid this Park unless it's a very busy weekend and there are more people than...
Read moreAll in all a pleasant place to visit, though often quite busy. A spacious area where you could easily meet up with others or spend time unbothered by strangers. It's usually quite crowded by the fountain, which I've seen on rare occasions stretch to show a sculpture and play music. The area around it is generally strewn with children playing in the water. Around the fountain is several benches and a playground. At times you'll find an event taking place at the stage, but it is not too often rented out. Parking around Acacia is payed until a certain time. There's also public restrooms and a cafe available. Throughout the year you'll find different art pieces displayed around Acacia and the general downtown area. While there is a fairly sized presence of homeless folk, they tend to keep to themselves and gather by the corner of the park marked by...
Read moreIt sounds like many people have had different experiences, but our family personally did not have a good overall experience Ice skating. The rink is very small, no one (staff) seemed to be tending to the ice in over the hour we were there, and our family plus other adults who did not work their took time to clean the ice for them. There were huge holes in the ice, and before the ice was cleaned off by non-staff members, you could not see them and they were very painful to run into. They did not seem to have decent quality skates, 4 of our 6 pairs were bad quality and broken, not broken in. Some will and may have a good experience, but we felt very ripped off after spending $60 for our crew. We made the most of it, but we recommend looking into other rinks even though the park and shops around it are pretty at night...
