99% dissatisfaction with Steak and Bake.
Right off the bat, my order was late. My driver called me 15 minutes after the estimated delivery window saying I gave them the wrong address. I looked back at the order just now; I gave them the correct address. I can forgive the mistake, though, since he was very polite and friendly.
That's where the pleasantries end. I am very sick with a cold and decided to order both a late lunch and dinner, as I can't really manage cooking myself. I ended up paying 40$ for, honestly, crap.
Lunch: I ordered two fried eggs, sausage, and a biscuit with gravy. I started with the biscuit and gravy, the latter of which has started to separate and turned lumpy. That could have been from being transported, some things are better fresh. However, the lack of flavor isn't excused by that. After adding a little salt and pepper, I had a bite with the biscuit. To my dismay, it was dense and undercooked. After being raised in the South, the letdown of not getting a loved comfort food was disappointing, for sure.
So I tried the sausage. It was a greasy puck, similar to what you could find in a continental breakfast at holiday inn. At least it was familiar, I thought. That is, until I found a hard chunk of bright white on a firm bite. I'm no expert on sausage or it's contents, but it was gross and did not belong.
To the eggs. Firstly, I ordered fried eggs and got scrambled. Secondly, they were so underseasoned it was like chewing moist cardboard.
Dinner: So I gave up on the first meal, it was decently inedible. I got the chili and broccoli cheese baked potato, hoping I could at least have one meal from the mess. I was wrong.
The chili was thick, and that encouraged me. The feeling, however, was short-lived as my first bite revealed the flavor of refried beans if you'd spilled salt into them and gave an ineffective effort to remove it all. Thankfully, I found a use for it later.
The potato was big. At least I could get a decent meal from it. Except it was definitely overcooked. The flesh under the skin was rubbery and the inside crumbled in my mouth like damp sand. The broccoli was bland, but thankfully, cooked well. In the end, I managed nourishment by dipping the handful of broccoli in the chili, so the underwhelming would neutralize the oversalted.
If you want food that is worth your money, it's not here. Maybe it's better in-house, but I'm sure...
Read moreThe service was way too long, it took almost an hour to get our food. Their excuse was they had a ten people party but it still took about 30 minutes after they served the party for us to get our food. There was a waitress, I believe her name was Sheron, who was as we thought on break. She was sitting in one of the stools not on her phone or eating just sitting there with her stuff sitting next to her. The manager told her that if she had extra time to clock back in but later the manager told her to do something and “Sheron” said she wasn’t even clocked in. 4 parties had already left before we had even got our food. The manager was moving quicker than all of the cooks and servers. I was taking my Nana to the Bake and Shake in Colorado Springs for the first time and for this to happen was sad. The fries were ok and the food was decent but for that long of a wait it...
