Tacos Del Gordo — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

The food was great when they first opened, now I tend to lose my appetite when someone suggests grabbing food. I'm not fan and honestly we waste money getting this food. The portion are like XXL which is way too much food for 4 people ordering 3 different items and the cheese oh god ,it's to much. I don't like a whole lot of cheese on my food especially when it's drowning in cheese and I have to go digging through everything that they thro on top. That there is ridiculous 😒. I should have said I'll have McDonald's instead which I definitely will next time. Theor portions are a waste of their customers hard earned money. And go ahead and laugh it off I don't care, because that's exactly how I feel about it all!!! I'm a Mexican woman that would prefere McDonald's over this food and it isn't the best in town. They should really rethink how they plate their orders. I won't be eating here again it's literally a waste of money and food regarding their portions they should offer a lite portion on their meals cut the meals in half or something. Hate to do it but this location gets 1 star for this review. I asked for smothered chili Verde burrito, 2 churros and Lg horchata. For reference chili Verde means green chili. They did not ask what color sauce I wanted, I guess I thought it was inferred. They tried to give me chili Verde burrito covered in RED sauce. Why? No idea. After a lot of push back and attempting to blame me by blatantly LYING, my burrito was remade. They tried to keep the large drink I ordered, I had to ask for it several times. For some reason they gave me both smothered burritos the red and green. If you've ever had a smothered burrito, they don't keep well in the fridge, the flour tortilla will turn to mush. So that didn't help. When I tried to check my burrito I noticed about 2 cups of green sauce thrown inside my food bag, kinda like an eff me from the staff I guess? I had the pleasure of trying Tacos Del Gordo recently, and let me just say—WOW. This spot completely blew me away!

I originally went in just to try the quesabirrias, and I started off with two tacos… but after the first bite, I knew that wasn’t going to be enough. I ended up ordering three more because they were that delicious. The flavor was rich and bold, the meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the crispy cheese on the tortilla gave it that perfect crunch and melt combo. Everything was cooked to perfection and served hot and fresh.

The consommé on the side was packed with flavor and the perfect dip to bring the whole experience together. Honestly, it was addictive—in the best way possible.

The place was clean, the staff was friendly and quick, and you can tell they take pride in the food they serve. If you're a fan of authentic Mexican street food or you're just craving some serious comfort food, Tacos Del Gordo is a must-try.
