Terrible. My build my own bowl with salmon came out covered in black crusty charcoal. I brought it back to the counter, explained what was wrong and was told no problem, they will remake. It came back out just as bad except they put more teriyaki sauce on it to cover it up. I asked for a plate to remove the dirty fish. The employee told me they clean the grill once a day, well sometimes in the afternoon too, but it gets dirty from other food that was grilled first, so there is nothing that can be done. That was comforting, right? Then a manager came over and started by chastising me for not speaking to him about the concern, but one of the employees. I asked how I would have known he was the manager? No badge or nametag, and, oh by the by, your employee should be trained when they need to escalate a situation. It is not my job to do so. We agreed this was a fair point, however, he went on to explain they have a broken panini grill, the hinge specifically, so the grill sits on the fish rather than above it, and gets the burnt remains of previous orders on it. He offered to make some shrimp for me, because he could cook that in foil, so it would be clean. I asked him to just put my salmon in foil and cook it that way. Apparently this cannot be done, corporate doesn't allow that. So getting this straight, it's ok to serve food with charcoal bits, hard enough to break a tooth on, dirty, but not ok to wrap food in foil to cook it until your grill us fixed? No thank you. I will...
Read moreWhile visiting family I discovered a trendy, friendly sushi spot that is an increasingly popular in town and in Denver too, Tokyo Joe's. Everyone from body builders to soup lovers and of course sushi lovers seem to appreciate TJ's fresh, healthful, and exciting offerings. A few nights ago Sushi Chef Tyson created some made-to-order sushi dishes. I had Surf & Turf, CA, & Spicy Tuna roll as my initial choices, but there are many others too. Had a Fat Tire with my dinner. Oh and if you're into fabulous build your own concoctions some folks sitting next to me chatted up their generous, low-priced, menu offerings, like glueten free veggie, or steak, chicken, & fish bowls. You get to select white or brown rice, noodles, or non-carb double veggies. Then it looks like there are more than a half-dozen sauces, a dozen or more combo veggies, and they even have gluten free teriyaki and sugar-free dishes. I've returned today for lunch, & just ordered the Crab Cheese Wonton shushi, a seared ahi tuna called Tataki, and something from TJ's tea bar, their Passion Fruit Black tea. Okay, I have a passion for these concoctions, & believe your visit to Tokyo Joe's will...
Read moreWow these people are RUDE! The server who took our order was rude and unable to answer our questions about the menu. A different server brought my food but not my husband's and quickly left without saying a word to us. After several minutes I asked the server who took our order if she would check on my husband's meal. She said that if it wasn't ready there was nothing she could do about it and that I was welcome to go check on it myself. I spoke to the manager, Damian, about the way we were treated. Damian said that server was right to be rude because we should have asked our 'own' server to check on our order, and that we should be aware of how server stations work. Most of the food was disappointing. Overcooked frozen mixed vegetables with some raw broccoli thrown on top. The california roll tasted like 7-11 sushi. The only good thing was the salmon which was actually cooked right. This was our first time at Tokyo Joe's. I have never been treated this badly at...
